Pen input signature - black background suddenly...

Hello all!

We are using a few pen inputs which were working fine and saving the signature on a white background. Since sometime last week they started appearing on black background which seems like transparency issue. We didn't do any modification on the app regarding the pen controls so the change was strange.
We tried it in a new environment with a new control and the sign is completely black.

We tried all methods since - all controls are set to 255,255,255,100 RGBA, still the sign after getting recorded comes out with black background.
We are also talking to support for 3rd day now and no results.
We googled the issue and tried all solutions so far, to no avail.

Anyone with a similar issue?

Is your data source from CDS entity?

Default Pen Input background color is transparent.... Transparent entity image is not supported, if you change the pen input background image to white it works.... it also works if you change the pen color to white.

I also test on my side, if change Fill property of PenInput to White, the image can be saved to the Entity properly.

thanks for replying!

As i have written before we tried this and probably any other method possible, including creating a new entity, a new app, tried every other color than white for fill color. Set the alpha&color on the control, set the alpha&color on the image where it loads.

Also until a week ago it was working and it stopped suddenly without me changing the code...

Do other tenants have the same issue?

It's really weird, I would suggest you submit a support ticket to Microsoft for further assistance.

i've submitted a ticket to support and had two remote sessions already.
Other tenants are using an older ver which is still working. We tried reverting to this version in our tenant but it was still not working.

This is also happening to me. No matter what color I set the PenInput's background fill to (white, green, etc) the resulting image always has a transparent background which then gets saved as black. In the attached image you can see the pen input (with a green background), an image control set to PenInput.Image, and then the resulting image saved to CDS.

This is how you get around it.

 

Create an image box by going to Media and select Image.

Then in the Image field put in your PenInput name

You will get a signature without the black background.

Make the PinInput visible only with not printing and put that on top of the Image box.

Not(Parent.Printing)
This way when you print to PDF the signature disappears and the image shows.
 
 

This comes late, but I just ran into this issue and saw that there hasn't really been an easy solution previously.

 

However, I just discovered that if you save/export the image file with a .png extension, it addresses the transparency issue without the need for any fancy configuration in Power Apps and has worked perfectly in all my experiments.

 

I used a Power Automate flow to both save the file as an attachment in a SharePoint list and to save the image in a SharePoint document library. I just sent it to the flow using <ImageName>.png in the name field.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
