People Screen Template

Hello Community,

I am playing around with the people screen template. The template uses office Office365Users'.SearchUser( to find people within my organization. HOWEVER, I want it to register a list that I have already created into an excel sheet(named Internal_Info). The sheet is linked into the data section, and the PeopleAddedGallery is connected to it. 

I am not sure how to change the UserBrowseGallery in order to have it search this list instead of the Office365users.search function.

An easy, but non delegable way to connect the UserBrowseGallery to your Excel table is to change the Items property to:

If(
	!IsBlank(Trim(TextSearchBox1.Text)), 
	Search(
		ExcelTableName, 
		Trim(TextSearchBox1.Text),
		"Column1", 
		"Column2"
	)
)

In the above you will still need to substitute ExcelTableName with the actual name of the table and Column1 and Column2 for the columns you wish to search. Column2 may also be removed or additional columns may be added as you wish.

A condition for this to work is of course that you add the table to your app.

Following on from @BCBuizer's reply, if you want to avoid formula errors when changing the data source, you can make sure your Excel table has a DisplayName column and a UserPrincipalName column, as those are what are referenced elsewhere in the template.

If you don't do that it's fine, you will just need to update those references with your own column names.

Thank you both! I have implemented both suggestions. I am getting 2 errors(and not quite working yet).

1) On Title6 under PeopleAddedGallery pf the people screen, getting the error 

2) On Title10 under UserBrowseGallery, getting the same error as above. 

The current formulas related are as follows:

Title6: Set(_selectedUser, ThisItem)

Title10: /*Select user, clear search contents and if this user hasn't been added to MyPeople collection, add them*/
Concurrent(
Set(_selectedUser, ThisItem),
Reset(TextSearchBox6),
If(Not(ThisItem.UserPrincipalName in Table5.UserPrincipalName), Collect(Table5, ThisItem)))

where "Table5" is the ExcelSheetName.
