Perform Multiple Actions Based on If Condition

Hi,

I am trying to build an app where i have added Approve button in the form screen. I have used patch function to update the field values as below. What is the condition is: If the Item is 'Complex' then do 1,2,3 actions else do 4,5,6.

Set(
    VarIntake,
    If(
        DataCardValue73.Selected.Value = "Complex",
        Patch(
            'List Name',
            VarIntake,
            {
                Status: {Value: "Next Review"},
                IntakeReviewComment: intComments.Text
            }
        ),
        Patch(
            'List Name',
            VarIntake,
            {
                Status: {Value: "Approved"},
                IntakeReviewComment: intComments.Text
            }
        )
    )
)

I am able to perform the single action if a specific condition is true, however I want more 2 actions in each condition as below.

If( Type = "Complex",
           1. Patch {Staus: ABC},
           2. Send Email to Person A
           3. Send Email to Person B,
     Else,
           4. Patch {Status: EFG}
           5. Send Email to Person C
           6. Send Email to Person D
  )

I tried segregating the 1, 2, 3 using &&, ||, ;;, ;, but somehow getting error. Can anyone please help how to combine multiple actions in true and false conditions?

Thanks,

Hi @AkshayManke

Can you Quickly check you set the Value for Label Like that or Not?

VijayTailor_0-1601233718712.png

Thanks

Oh, Now i got the point @VijayTailor,. I have not setup the variable hence i might be having the issue. Anyways. I am re-explaining the issue to you in a different way.

I have a SharePoint list in which there are two columns Complexity with two values [Simple, Complex] and have a Status column with several statuses. I have created a button for approving the request through PowerApps.

What i want it: OnSelect =  If the Complexity = Simple then 1. Change the Status column to 'Approved' using Patch Function. 2. Send Email to the Creator. Else if the Complexity = Complex then 1. Change the status to 'Under Review with Team B'. 2. Send email to Creator about the progress 3. Send email to the Team B that they have something to review.

This is the exact scenario which i have. Can you please help me that how can i achieve this?

Thanks a lot in advance.!

Hi @AkshayManke ,

below the Code For your requirement.

If(ThisItem.Complexity.Value="Simple",Patch(
    TestAkshay,{
        ID:ThisItem.ID,
        Status:{
            Value:"Approved",
            '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference"
        }
    }
);Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(ThisItem.'Created By'.Email,"Your Request is Apptoved","Hi your request is approved",{Importance:"High"}),Patch(
    TestAkshay,{
        ID:ThisItem.ID,
        Status:{
            Value:"Under Review",
            '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference"
        }
    }
);Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(ThisItem.'Created By'.Email,"Your Request is Under Review","Hi your request is approved",{Importance:"High"}))

Hello @Pstork1,

I tried your solution and that is also a workaround for the same hence accepting your answer as a solution. Many thanks for the guidance.

Regards,

Akshay

I would use[] for each response and use "," to separate the response. If(Condition, [Action1], [Action2, Action3,Action4])

If(
           IsBlank(tapID),
                     [
                        SubmitForm(SharePointForm1)
                    ],
                   [
                            If(
                                    CountRows(colShippingCustoms)>0,
                                    Patch(
                                          ShippingCustoms,
                                          colShippingCustoms
                                      )),
                               Clear(colShippingCustoms),

                                      Patch(ShippingCustoms,Defaults(ShippingCustoms),
                                             {ShippingRequestID:
                                                 {
                                                    '@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",
                                                    Id: tapID,//SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID,
                                                    Value: Value(lblID.Text)
                                                }
                                         }
                              )
                ]
);

Using the ; you can simplify it like this:

If( Type = "Complex",
1. Patch {Staus: ABC};
2. Send Email to Person A;
3. Send Email to Person B,
4. Patch {Status: EFG};
5. Send Email to Person C;
6. Send Email to Person D
)

Note that the commas are splitting condition,true_value,else_value, while the semicolons are there to tell the program that there is another action to be performed.

In a more split up way:

If(condition

,
trueaction1;
trueaction2;
trueaction3

,
elseaction1;
elseaction2;
elseaction3
)

Yes that works at this point.  But this post and answer is almost 3 years old.  It didn't work back then.

Hi,

You can also perform multiple actions using "Concurrent()"

Allows you to evaluate separate functions, however they will happen at the same time (in case you need them to be sequential.
