Person field in power apps via combo box

Hi!

I created a repeating table in my app using gallery.

In this gallery I got text and choice columns which work perfectly.

I am just stuck with Person/Group column called “Wunschressource”.

Default property:

{DisplayName:User().FullName}

My save button shows me an error:

The argument of Line Wunschressource does not match the expected type text.

Moreover I do have an error in my On Succes property of my form:

Record type is expected and in my formular there is a missing column called claims of type text.

I really don’t know what that means.

For a Combobox, the Default property does nothing.  What you need to set is the DefaultSelectedItems property.

And, comboboxes require a record that matches the schema of the Items property.

Since your items property of the combobox will return SharePoint user records, you need to provide one in the DefaultSelectedItems property:

{ 
    Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(User().Email), 
    Department:"", 
    DisplayName:User().FullName, 
    Email:User().Email, 
    JobTitle:".", 
    Picture:"."
}

The above should give you what you are looking for.

right now if I want to ad another row the chosen name disappears and my name is shown....

Sure - Same thing...you need to supply a SharePoint User record for that column when you use it and reference it.

Your problem comes from typing to create a blank row in a collection.  You are setting it to "" which is a string, not a record.  You can use Blank() to "null" it as no record.

         Wunschressource:LineWunschressource;

But there is now a new error in the first one:

the type of argument dos not match the expected type „ObjZero“. Type record was found. 

just for info. To create my collection at the beginning I set it now like this:

NewForm('Form new work package');;ClearCollect(Items; {LineTätigkeitBezug:"";LineProjekttyp:"";LineStatus:"";LineWunschressource:Blank ()} ;;Navigate('Screen New work package';ScreenTransition.Cover)

What is the error showing on (in the formula)?  If the whole formula is red squiggled, then it usually will be a darker red squiggle.  If not, then you can also hover over each part of the formula noting the popup error message to determine where the trouble is.

The error refers only to the patch function:

First, I noticed a typo from the formula I provided...there was an extra paren in it.  Make sure that is removed and formula is:

Patch(Items; 
    ThisItem;

     LineStatus:'Input Status'.Selected.Value;

If you already noticed and corrected that and you still have the error, then see if you break it down, where does the error appear again?

ex...change to:

Patch(Items; 
    ThisItem; 
    {LineTätigkeitBezug:InputTätigkeitBezug.Text
    }
);;​

then to:

Patch(Items; 
    ThisItem; 
    {LineTätigkeitBezug:InputTätigkeitBezug.Text; 
     LineProjekttyp:InputProjekttyp.Text
    }
);;

Then to:

Patch(Items; 
    ThisItem; 
    {LineTätigkeitBezug:InputTätigkeitBezug.Text; 
     LineProjekttyp:InputProjekttyp.Text;
     LineStatus:'Input Status'.Selected.Value

And finally to:

At which point did the error return?

Everything worked fine first the first 3 ones. Ther error occurred with the final one....

First - Try changing the Items property of your Combobox to the following:

Choices([@'3400 ILLU Arbeitspakete Items'].Wunschressource)

Next - save your app and exit the designer, then go back in.  If you have not done this since we changed the "" to Blank(), it is possible that the designer is confused still on the schema of the record.
