Pinch to zoom breaks responsive canvas app?

I'm having an issue with a responsive canvas app I built. I think this is a bug, but I haven't found any other reports of it.

My responsive layout is working great. On my iPhone (11), I can rotate the phone and the app re-arranges just fine. However, If I pinch to zoom, and then rotate my phone, the layout becomes totally messed up, and this is not corrected unless I quit the app and relaunch it. Even if I zoom all the way back out, and then rotate the phone, the layout will be jumbled. It's strange because I'll hold my phone vertically, zoom in, zoom back out, rotate horizontally - jumbled, and then rotate back to vertical (which looked perfect prior to rotating) and when I do, it's all jumbled when vertical now as well.

This also happens (even without zooming the app) if I simply exit the app and leave it running in the background and then go back to it. Often the layout is distorted when I go back to the app. The same thing happens if I lock my phone with the app open, then unlock it - no zooming involved. See screenshots below. If anyone knows a fix, I'm all ears, but I think this is just a bug. Disabling pinch to zoom would obviously be a quick temporary fix, if that were possible, but I know it isn't.Looks good verticalLooks good verticalLooks good horizontalLooks good horizontalZoomed in a little while verticalZoomed in a little while verticalZoomed back out. @Apruzr

Do you mean your responsive canvas app is referred to this article Create responsive layouts in canvas apps ?

Could you share more details about the responsive setting on your app? so that we can reproduce your issue and provide further assistance.

Sik

Yes, “responsive” as in the article you linked. Everything is positioned and sized with expressions. Some of them reference App.Height, App.Width, Parent.Height, Parent.Width, and Parent.Orientation. I won’t be able to post every expression used in the app because there are so many. What other details would help you?

@Apruzr

Did you custom the breakpoints?

Sik

Yes, I did use custom breakpoints on one or two screens, but not on every screen.

Any update?

I did the same with custom breakpoints, all relative x / y / width / height expressions on every control and if you never change the device orientation during a running Power App Session --> it works flawless!

My issue: once an app on a phone is openend in portrait mode --> then orientation changed to landscape mode --> first few times on orientation changes everything works perfect, but one orientation change too many and app just gets messed up with strange distortions a lot like the screenshots of @Apruzr .

So I am not sure if it is related to the zoom feature or to a buggy Lock orientation but we need the Lock to be disabled to show Portrait on Phone and Landscape on Dekstop...

From my perspective there may be a relation to smaller font sizes on mobile devices --> making the Power App automatically zoom in and after this auto-zoom --> responsiveness breaks...

Is Microsoft looking into it? It's killing this responsiveness feature.

I have this exact problem. It’s been 2 years since the original post. Has anyone found a work around? Can you force a screen refresh like what happens when the app loads after a restart? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Im having the same problem when pinch to zoom is used on mobile and the user changes the app orientation as described in this original post
