Hi friends,
Is there any way to play videos inside PowerApps which are hosted on the SharePoint document library? I am able to play Youtube videos. But its not working for SharePoint videos. Any help regarding this would be really appreciated.
Thank you

Do you have this working?
I am working on a Canvas app digital signage solution where images or videos display. The videos are stored in a SharePoint library. I have a SharePoint list containing an image or the video file name. The application continuously reads through the list so that I can add dynamically add new items. It works, but when testing with a different user the SharePoint videos do not play unless the user first opens a new tab to the SharePoint library. Permissions appear to be configured correctly.
Is there some other form of initialization that has to occur?
Ronald
Hi Ronald,
In my case, the APP is running on mobile and I was trying to play the video within the APP. I did not get this working but as a workarround, I got the video playing on the device's browser with the "Launch(VideoURL)" function.
That means the PowerAPP calls the default browser in the device and then navigates to the video URL, so if the user has not logged in his 365 account on the browser, the video will not play, or rather, the browser will prompt the user to login to his/her account. The thing is that if the user saves username/password after logging in, the browser will not prompt for them that often.
So my answer is no, I could not get my Power APP to play the video.
If anyone has a solution, please come forward.
Thank you
Josu
Hi Ronald, have you run into any solutions to this specific issue? I am running into the exact same thing. On my end, testing works fine within PowerApps and loading dynamic training from a gallery linked to a video library. My colleagues also have no issue, but we are getting random reports back of videos not working on the embedded media player. I am currently using a Gallery with filters going to the .'link' source to pull the video, and permissions for the library are all set to Read/View as a visitor.
With my issue I have found that if SharePoint is open in a separate tab then the videos autoplay, if SharePoint is not open then they don't. You have not indicated if you are using autoplay.
Hey Ronald, thanks for the quick reply. I am using autoplay on start. The issue I've seen is that the videos won't even show on their screen, just 0:00 - but if they launch SharePoint on a separate tab then use PowerApps, the video shows up immediately and autoplays.
I haven't tested the same scenario with autoplay disabled.
Hi @wsarris, it will not work.
As I explained in my post, this is not an issue but simply a case of logging into the browser.
A Power APP cannot currently play videos, your only option for now is using Launch with the URL of the video which will try to open the video in the device's default browser. If you log in with a user that has read permisions for the video, it will play, otherwise it won't.
Hope this helps
Josu
@jRufus I am trying to understand what you mean but I am completely lost. I am not using mobile, my app is set to loop through a SharePoint list, display images and retrieve videos from a SharePoint document library as necessary. I have a media control on a screen, reference a video in a SharePoint document library, set it to autoplay and it plays. The issue is that autoplay is only working if I have SharePoint open in another tab.
Sorry, I meant on mobile.
You shouldn't have any problems with autoplay as long as you are in PowerApps on the web.
It works for me and I don't need to have the SharePoint library opened in another tab in the same browser.
Just to clarify, does your video play when you play it manually eventhough it does not play automatically with autoplay set to on?
Josu
But now MS Stream has upgraded to MS Stream on SharePoint, it is not able to play video hosted in MS Stream on SharePoint again, while videos hosted in MS Stream (Calssic) is still working.
I pay videos on Power Pages.
Any solution for this new situation?
Appreciate in advance.
i do have this situation likely, my app work perfect playing the videos only if the app is open in the web browser but if its open in any app even the pc version app, it only shows 0, does any one know the solution for this?
