Hi All!
I am currently working on my 3rd power app (I consider myself quite novice still) and I have an app which pulls records from a SharePoint list which contains data concerning project statuses and crew locations. I have already set up a pop up which opens once you click the edit button on the record in the gallery.
I have 2 main hiccups preventing completion
1.) I want the buttons in the pop up window to change color depending on their current state (ie. if the project status is "Completed" the Completed button should appear green). This should also update based on which button you select and submit. I have accomplished a simple version for the book marks on the gallery.
Code: Switch(ThisItem.Status.Value,"Complete", Green,"Pending", Yellow,"Suspended", Red,"InProgress", Orange)
Not sure how to do so for this case though
2.) I have a toggle which shows if a crew has arrived yet and want the toggle to assume the current state of the record (yes or no) and obviously be able to alter it in and reflect that change in my SharePoint list.
Bonus: I have a column of when a project will be attempted named dtMobilization and want to filter the gallery to show the previous and next 7 days only. I have no idea why this code isn't function properly.
Current code for above: Filter(ProjectList, dtMobilization >= Today()-7 And dtMobilization <= Today()+7)
Project Status Column name: ProjectStatus
SharePoint List name: Project List
Dates Column name: dtMobilization
Thanks for the assistance guys!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Set the color things to
Switch(
Gallery1.Selected.Status.Value,
"Complete", Green,
"Pending", Yellow,
"Suspended", Red,
"InProgress", Orange,
White
)
and wherever else you reference that column outside the gallery to
Gallery1.Selected.Status.Value
If it gives you expected text value errors etc you MIGHT have in your sharepoint the column set to allow multiple selections per item. If that is the case fix it with a concat()
Re: the date filter what is the error it is giving you, I have tested that code on my space and it works fine
Re: toggle, what have you tried so far, should be as simple as setting its default to
ThisItem.Title="yes"
Re: colors, not exactly sure what you are asking, but if you are asking what to do to color code it when Nothing is selected it would just be
Switch(
ThisItem.Status.Value,
"Complete", Green,
"Pending", Yellow,
"Suspended", Red,
"InProgress", Orange,
HotPink)
In terms of the pop up I'd like to be able to click on one of the four buttons, hit submit and therefore alter that item in the SharePoint list. Also the current state of the item should be highlighted green
For example lets say one record has a status of "Complete". I want the complete button to appear green and if I click on the "Pending" button and submit that should now turn green and update the Sharepoint list.
Example if for if the current record was a project which was completed.
Below is an image of the gallery and the pop up of how I'd want it
OnSelect of button would be something like
UpdateIf(ProjectList, ID=ThisItem.ID, {ProjectStatus:Self.Text})
Might have to add a refresh for the datasource in there after to get the data in gallery to update, try this withotu first, then check your sharepoint list and see if it updated, and if it did but the gallery didnt add the refresh
Colors of buttons would be same as your other color code, but throw it in the fill of the buttons and set to
Switch(
ThisItem.Status.Value,
"Complete", Green,
"Pending", Yellow,
"Suspended", Red,
"In Progress", Orange,
HotPink)
Or whatever colors you want there
Good Morning Mr. Rob,
I tried your solution and got an error, and I have come to the conclusion that the issue lies with my data source. For example with any other column, if I do Gallery1.Selected.ID (which is the ID number of my project) it loads properly, whereas if I do the same for the project status (therefore Gallery1.Selected.Status) I get an error "expected text value".
Any Idea how to fix this?
go to yoour sharepoint list, look at list settings, and find out what the status column type is. If it isn't text then
Text( Gallery1.Selected.Status)
I tried your solution and got the error "text function has invalid arguments; expected a number for value". After digging around the web I found the issue stems because PowerApps can't convert the SharePoint dropdown feature to a text value. Still working on a workaround to this.
Thisitem.Status.value also does not work for my gallery buttons
If(Text(Gallery1.Selected.Status.Value)=
"Complete", Green,
"Pending", Yellow,
"Suspended", Red,
"InProgress", Orange,
White
)
This code functions with no errors, yet none of my items end up highlighted any color and are white, indicating to me that they can't connect properly with the selected status.
What kind of column is your sharepoint column? I am assuming Choice maybe? Don't recall there being one called dropdown. If it is choice, Let me know and I will tell you what I can come up with
Yes sir, it is indeed a choice column! Thanks for the help
Set the color things to
Switch(
Gallery1.Selected.Status.Value,
"Complete", Green,
"Pending", Yellow,
"Suspended", Red,
"InProgress", Orange,
White
)
and wherever else you reference that column outside the gallery to
Gallery1.Selected.Status.Value
If it gives you expected text value errors etc you MIGHT have in your sharepoint the column set to allow multiple selections per item. If that is the case fix it with a concat()
