Power App with SharePoint Connection in external tenant - Network Error

We are having an issue with a Power App canvas app accessing data from a SharePoint list in a different tenant.

Whenever we try to run the Power App, we get the following error:

Error when trying to retrieve data from the network: An unknown error occurred.

This only happens when the connection is using the user's guest account setup in the other tenant.  If we remove the guest account credentials from the connections setup in the app and replace it with an internal account on that tenant the app works.  The guest account credentials work fine access the SharePoint list directly.  But the guest account credentials always return the error above in in the canvas app.

Hoping someone can confirm if what we are trying to do should work and if so if there are any suggestions on what we would need to do for the app to work.

Restating what we are trying to do:

Tenant X - Power App resides here, User has an account and Power Apps license here

Tenant Y - SharePoint List resides here.  User has a guest account here 

We are trying to deploy the app so the tenant X user can access the canvas app using a SharePoint connection to tenant Y using their guest account (which is verified as working - user can access SP list directly with those guest credentials).

Thanks for the feedback and the link.  It helped confirm some of the permissions setup I had made were setup correctly, but the context is a bit different in that in the example in the post both the Power App and SharePoint List are in the same tenant and the guest users to that tenant are being given access to that app.

In my case the Power App and user account / Power App license are in the primary tenant and only the SharePoint list is in the guest tenant.  The SharePoint access for the guest account is setup the same way as it is in the blog post but I can't get the Power App to work with it while the connection is setup using a guest account despite being able to access that same list directly via the browser.
