Power Apps Attachment

I'm try to add a attachment in a new form but my database is an Excel Online, is it possible?

I'm still not sure I understand exactly what you're trying to do, but it sounds like you are keeping a database of multiple points of a room and are wanting to attach pictures of any irregularities that occur. Unfortunately as everyone else has stated, there is no way for you to submit attachments directly to an excel form. The best course of action in my opinion is to import your excel form into a Sharepoint List.

If your dataset allows it, I would create a new Sharepoint list and use "Import from Excel" when you are creating the list. This will import all of your excel columns and data into the list. After that, you can change the PowerApp form's datasource from [Your Excel Sheet] to [Your Sharepoint List]. 

Once you are connected to the SP list, in the right-hand column in PowerApps with the form selected, click the "Edit Fields" button located under the "Data Source". You should then see "Attachments" and be able to add it to your form. This will make it where attachments can be added in the app and upon submission will add them to the line item in Sharepoint.

you shoud create a sharepoint list, then you creeate a form linked to this list; then you change you submit function by : 1 submit the file, 2 -get the id of the newly submited file, 3 - you submint the whole form but with a new value : the iD

I would HIGHLY suggest not doing that, but in theory as long as you have an "index" column in your excel sheet you could submit the attachments with the value of your "Index" column as a reference. Then when your form loads, it loads the attachments based on whatever line item has a "reference" value that matches the "index" number in your excel sheet.

if i change my db in this way, I would have to recriate the form’s layout?

Unfortunately, with how PowerApps works, as soon as you change the datasource all formatting you did on the PowerApps form will be erased. This is one of the many reasons why "Patching" is superior, because you can create dropdowns and controls that will always work independently of the form's dataset.

In fact, most consulting companies will not even work with you if you build your powerapp using forms instead of patching due to the number of issues that it causes.

If was true 1 year ago but now, you can easely change your data structure and keep your form untouched. But you'r right about using the patch() being a good practice.

Really? Glad they fixed that since the forms option is so accessible to new users. The reason I learned patch in the first place is because PowerApps kept nuking all of my formatting. It would also always bug and change the primary fields of all my dropdowns back to "Title".

So frustrating 😂

I use the form when i want make a quick patch for an unique user that doesn't require to be pretty (admin stuff)
