I have been developing in Custom Pages for a couple weeks now. I seem to have issues with publishing pages and the changes reflecting in my Model Driven app. I have opened a support request but have not had much success. Are others experiencing this same situation? I love the concept, we see this changing the way we develop! We've been waiting for this feature for a long time!

I have tried the suggested work around here to no avail, Known issues with custom pages in a model-driven app - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs

Thanks!

@13ckestler Can you share what issues you are having with publishing custom pages and having them appear in the model-driven app? We do require that after you save & publish the custom page that you also re-publish the model-driven app to have the page change included.  We are working to remove that in the future but it is required currently.  We also are aware that after re-publishing the model-driven app that one async publish step means the page change isn't available immediately.  Would like to help investigate this to understand what is happening so we can improve the experience.

Thanks,

Adrian

@aorth I have 2 issues and I am not sure if they are related. I create a model driven app from scratch, then create a brand new custom page, I make some edits to the page and then save and publish the custom page. I close the editor and go back to my model driven app. From there I save and publish, the custom page typically will appear at this point. If I then reopen my custom page and make additional edits, save and publish and then save and publish the model driven app 9/10 times the edit does not appear. A couple times I have been able to see the change take affect the next day but not very often. In addition to this, I often times get the attached error, saying that the canvas app cannot be rendered in the model driven app. Happy to connect if you'd like to do a screen share.

Thanks,

Christian

I have used some custom pages with success over the past few weeks, however recently they have all started to show this rendering error. Additionally, it does not matter how many times I publish the page, or republish the Model Driven apps, I cannot get the changes to reflect for users.

When creating a new custom page, I get the following error when opening it within a Model driven app: "Unknown error. Your data source is not configured correctly. Please contact the owner of the app to resolve this issue.".

The page works fine in the editor preview, however when publishing to a live model app, it does not pull in any data, and shows that error. The controls all load, just without data. Using the "monitor" function to debug the published model driven app, there is an error row logged for each gallery in the page that references a data source:

{
"status": null,
"duration": null,
"dataSource": null,
"responseSize": null,
"controlName": null,
"propertyName": null,
"nodeId": null,
"formulaData": {
"script": "",
"spanStart": null,
"spanEnd": null
},
"data": {
"errorContext": {
"entityName": "galCategory",
"propertyName": "Items",
"nodeId": null,
"id": 106
},
"errorMessage": "Error when trying to retrieve data from the network",
"raiseToastNotification": false,
"wasReported": false
}
}

I have 4 dataverse tables in the Page, no other sources. I have done several tests by creating new pages, and all of them give me the same error.

@DKassian, can you share a model app session ids for both the custom page rendering issue and the datasource error so we can investigate these issues.  Thanks!

Hello @aorth,

Datasource error Model Driven App session ID: c8f08e9b-8991-4a46-8fed-325ce3a3b034

Rendering issue Model Driven App session ID: 8f2ee189-95d2-4a9e-825e-eb77c68c7cc3

The datasource error is appearing in all my pages, with existing and new custom pages and across multiple model driven apps. The rendering issue is isolated to one page in one app.

Thanks!

Dylan

As of yesterday, it appears the pages are working without the errors noted above. Did not need to re-publish, they simple began to work.

Thanks

Dylan

@DKassian thanks for the update.  We are still investigating issues as to why a publish is taking longer to complete and how to provide better status on the async parts of publish process.  We don't expect the publish to be taking as long but have reports that the next day it is working.  So we are continuing to look at this.

Is the datasource error also no longer repro'ing?

@aorth  It is now working and no datasource error is appearing. I did not republish anything (page or MDA) since my initial post about the error. I had been checking it daily to see if anything changed, and up to Monday it was giving a datasource error, and then the next time I checked, the data all came through, no errors, and full functionality. None of the tables in question were modified / republished in that time.

For reference, the page is an asset class selection helper, which pulls data from three dataverse tables, and then assigns the selected values to an asset on select of the button. None of the displayed categories / subcategories / classes would appear when the error was happening, they were blank galleries. Once the error stopped the galleries started to populate.
