Power Apps Monitor Feedback discussion thread

We recently launched the new Power Apps Monitor tool to help you debug and improve the performance of your apps. You can read more about the Monitor in the blog post. As you use the Monitor, we'd love to hear your feedback. What did you find helpful? What additional features could we add to this tool to help you debug your apps better? This community post will be used to consolidate all feedback on the Monitor tool. You can also access this post directly from the "Provide Feedback" link in the Monitor.

Hi @AengusHeaney

Thanks for this tool. I think the concept is fabulous, and I wish I could use it more extensively. However, my app makes extensive use of nested galleries and it just does not work at all in this scenario. It seems it has not been wired up to gallery controls properly yet? Or something?

So if my outer gallery contains 50 rows, and each outer gallery row contains a nested inner galley with 10 or more rows each containing 15 fields, then changing any one variable associated with any field in those galleries causes a reload of the entire nest. This is not an issue, BUT all the monitor feedback is blank. So I cannot see which control is firing the filters or the lookups which I guess are the root cause of my horrendous performance issues. See screenshot below.

Is there a workaround for this, or alternatively a due date by when Monitor will be wired up properly to all controls? Alternatively, is there another way to debug an app?  I have really massive performance issues which I am very sure I could improve if I could get a handle on how PowerApps is processing things in background.

Any guidance would be most welcome.

Best regards

Lael

Working with a custom Model-driven app.  Monitor shows "connected"  I use the Play Model-driven app button to start the app.  Click around.  Create and Save a new Ticket (case/incident).  I never see the "join debug session" pop up.  no monitor data shown.

Is there some config that needs to be done?

Great tool for debugging in browser, I have shared it with a user but can't seem to connect to their mobile device for monitoring even after sharing the link in test environment. Is it possible to monitor the mobile app? Would be useful to see the Session ID on the app is the same as that being monitored.

Yes you can monitor mobile device,

(1) you have to copy the connected user link and manually email it

(2) Start the app through the link

(3) - would be great to see a session ID in the monitoring tool that matches the session ID in the power apps mobile app

Great in concept - but it is hopeless with nested galleries. It tells me nothing as you can see from my screenshot. Hoping @AengusHeaney  will respond with workaround, expected final delivery date, or some other means of debugging.  Debugging is incredibly difficult in PowerApps. In fact, other than Monitor, which doesn't work properly in my case, impossible as far as I know.

No puedo revisar mi Aplicación prediseñada de Help desk solo cambie a que fuera mía y me envía errores

Conceptually a great idea if it provided information that is actually valuable. In most cases errors are still tracked as successes and the shear number of Lookups that spam the log providing zero context or information is concerning.

hi Team,

Something weird is happening with my app. I am able to save the data in sharepoint of some combobox values in design mode and it works perfectly fine. But when I try to save the data in Published version some combo box is giving me error that entry is required, whereas ComboBox is already selected and shows the values as well. I have used a Label in case of blank to update the data in sharepoint. I tried to check what is happening with published version using monitor tool. but its not solving my purpose, as cant see any information available of cause of the error in Monitor. Below is the screenshot of the error.

Just wanted to let you know that i am using below formulas:

In Items: Sort(ForAll(Distinct(Location_master,'Location Name'), {Result: ThisRecord.Value}),Result,SortOrder.Ascending)

Label.Text contains If(IsBlank(ComboBox7.Selected.Result),ThisItem.'Location / Work City',ComboBox7.Selected.Result)

Update function has Label.Text

The question is why it works in Devlopment version but not works in Published version of app. There is no permission issue as i myself is working and monitoring published version is not giving me much information.  Expecting your support here.
