Power Apps grid control feedback

The new Power Apps grid control in model-driven apps is officially in public preview! This control can be used for both read-only and editable scenarios, supports infinite scrolling for a modern browsing experience, and allows pro-dev makers to customize the appearance of cells. A new blog post and documentation for this should be available soon!

As you try out and use this new grid control, we'd love to hear your feedback! What went well and what didn't? What additional features do you want or need from the grid? This community post will be used to consolidate feedback on the Power Apps grid control. Thanks in advance for your comments!

I can see the vertical lines in the editor however once deployed in Power Pages the vertical lines disappear.

We've been using the Power Apps Grid control with a custom control on it for a few months now successfully.

It looks like something might have changed in the last 48 hours that's preventing our customizations from appearing- just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them as well?

We've even deployed the custom control in 2 different tenants and still can't get the customizations to appear.

@jasongre  It seems in some cases the Quick Find does not work if a powerapps grid control has been set for the view. Here when I try to search in the grid control view:

And here when I change the view to normal read-only grid:

Now the control seems to work pretty well in a form subgrid, but I found one new bug. If you filter a column, the filter indicator disappears. And even though the filtering works, you cannot remove it any other way than reloading the whole page and form.

Loving the new design and thankful for recent additions like nested subgrids!

Things I'd really like to see next:

- MAINLY: a new blank row in each grid control, to be able to add a row from grid directly. This is already present in the backend when viewing data in a table! Please add it to front end as well. (Picture related)

- Ideally also add option to paste multi-row data, which will automatically create same amount of rows for editing. A similar feature is already present in MS Lists.

- Group By function should be added (same as in old editable grid).

- Security column profiles have a bug where used needs both create and edit permission to edit record from new grid control.

One of the issues we were seeing was related to lookup field in the grid where a polymorphic (multiple table) lookup is used.  In short only one of the tables would remain in scope of the search, generally the first ordered table.  If a user selected a value from a form and then edited the value from a subgrid only that table would be referenced in the lookup options from the grid. It is not the correct user experience.

If this isn't fixed, will there be a means to configure some columns for data entry and others locked for editing (display only) from the grid?  Sometimes there are only some fields that make sense to edit in grid but are still good to reference in a grid based entry

We're seeing a recent change where the preview nested grid is always editable, even if the control / parent grid is is set to editable = no. Hopefully this will be fixed as a nested grid is very valuable for us in read only scenarios as well as editable scenarios.

Additionally, It would be ideal to allow some granularity on read only / editable columns, similar to how we can make fields read only on a form. Currently we're having to use the customizer function which isn't very intuitive for anyone other than our devs.

Infinite scroll is a killer feature for us though!

Rows disappearing on subgrid

We are using the grid control in a subgrid on a form. The grid is editable, scrolling is infinite as well as paged. The maximum number of rows setting is less than the number of actual rows, so paging is expected.

When pressing the "Save" button on the main form (sometimes at first click, sometimes after multiple save clicks) rows are disappearing from the subgrid. Refreshing/reloading the main form or just the subgrid brings back all rows into view.

It looks like a kind of paging cookie issue. The grid starts showing the rows from a (random?) starting point with no possibility to scroll back / navigate back to the previous rows. The sorting itself is correct from the starting point onwards.

@Stefan11 Can you log a support ticket for this? Thanks for the feedback!

Hi again, 2 more things that came to mind:

- add option to click through to the record selected in a nested grid

- add option to add field to view but keep it hidden (as is in forms, allows for running business rules without cluttering the view for users)
