Power Apps grid control feedback

The new Power Apps grid control in model-driven apps is officially in public preview! This control can be used for both read-only and editable scenarios, supports infinite scrolling for a modern browsing experience, and allows pro-dev makers to customize the appearance of cells. A new blog post and documentation for this should be available soon!

As you try out and use this new grid control, we'd love to hear your feedback! What went well and what didn't? What additional features do you want or need from the grid? This community post will be used to consolidate feedback on the Power Apps grid control. Thanks in advance for your comments!

@jasongre
Issue
The Associated Grid Control in Power Apps does not support custom buttons.

Impact This prevents users from adding custom buttons to the Associated Grid Control to perform actions on the data in the grid, such as creating, updating, or deleting records.

Workarounds There are a few workarounds that users can use to add custom buttons to the Associated Grid Control, such as using the Command Bar control instead of the Associated Grid Control, or creating a custom control that extends the Associated Grid Control. However, these workarounds are not as ideal as simply being able to add custom buttons to the Associated Grid Control itself.

Request Please add support for custom buttons to the Associated Grid Control in Power Apps. This would make it much easier for users to perform actions on the data in the grid, and would make the Associated Grid Control a more powerful and versatile control.

@eugacc Why Associated Grid Control in Power Apps does not support custom buttons.

As of today Power Apps Grid control's lookup field suddenly all stops working again!!

Nothing was changed on our end, it just suddenly stopped working itself. No record found on ANY lookup field that was previously working.

Whoever maintaining this component should be fired.

The control is broken after the last update (28/01/2024). Has anyone else experienced problems since yesterday?

We haven't had anything that breaks the control as of yet. But we do have some bizarre changes including adding a bunch of right padding to number cells, meaning we had to go through and widen all the columns or all the numbers were getting hidden.

Additionally we cannot use the editable grid on account of the lookups being near useless, which has been previously mentioned a few times in this forum.

If it is a configuration / editor error, try the classic editor, we've pretty much resorted to using that now because the modern editor does not work well with any sort of PCF controls, they do not bind the parameters correctly.

One of the main issue we have is we can't even edit in classic view anymore :

Hi @jasongre

It appears duration columns are intermittently showing blank values when using the 'Power Apps Grid Control' (including the default view of the new modern look).

The values are displayed properly when switching to the 'Read Only Grid' or the 'Power Apps Read-Only Grid' (or exporting to Excel). Refreshing the browser will make the values display properly in the 'Power Apps Grid Control' but this is only temporary and the issue will appear in a few days again.

The issue appears across different users, browsers, devices and Apple/PC. We have seen it across different environments and have been able to recreate it in different tenants.

This issue was originally posted here: Values for a column not shown in Views - Model-dri... - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

We have created a support ticket for this issue (Support Request ID: 2402030030000238). Are you able to assist?

Thanks

Matt

I can confirm we're seeing the same behavior in all of our environments. We've tried with simple and complex views (with or without link entities) and it appears in both scenarios.

Thanks, @DKassian! We are addressing the extra padding; it was only meant to show up in editable grid scenarios to ensure the numbers always aligned correctly.

Are you still having issues with lookup controls? Please log a support ticket if so, so we can make sure we collect the necessary information to reproduce the issue.  Thanks!!

@Anymous_98797 thank for reporting this. Can you provide more details for what you mean by this? Did you log a support ticket?
