Power Apps to SharePoint list (Attachment)

Hello everyone!

This is my first Power App, please help!

Brief explanation:

I am creating a Power App for a Capital Expenditure form, to this day it is in a form that is filled out by hand and emailed across to seven approvers. There are multiple categories and multiple SharePoint list but for this question we will focus on one. I am building a Power App that creates an item in SharePoint and I have a flow that assigns the approvers base on market and another flow that send adaptive cards waiting for a response. I have created this from a blank canvas app. To create an item in SharePoint I am using Patch(), not edit form. I began using Patch() over edit form because of the way I wanted the info to appear in list based on section 2(table picture below). More Info directly below Section 2 image.

Here are snippets of the form I have created so far in Power Apps

Section 1:

page1.PNG

Section 2(two snippets of section 2):

page2.PNG

page2.2.PNG

What the two filled out columns look like in SharePoint list and how I want all of the columns in se...

So, I already have them appear this way. Basically, each row in section 2 is one multi line column in SharePoint list.

page2list.PNG

In my patch function:

Concrete: Concatenate(

"Vendor: ",

BJ1,

Char(10),

"Quantity: ",

CJ1,

Char(10),

"Cost per: ",

DJ1,

Char(10),

"Total: ",

EJ1

),

My Patch() function works great until I got to the last part which is I need to add attachments. Now from what I see online is the everyone is using the "Edit Form". For now I am only using Patch() but I need to add attachments.

New plan:

Page 1: Section 1(Shown above) use with "Edit Form"

Page 2: Section 2(Shown above) use with "Patch()" because I want to keep the format and the ability to group several boxes into one column in list.

Page 3: Add attachment with "Edit Form"

So, if I initially create a new item in list on page 1 how to I patch page 2 to the same item I created on page one. The how do I edit the same item again on page 3 when adding attachment. Also, after I hit "Submit" on page 1 a flow begins running but it will not edit any of the fields I am changing on page 2 or 3 so I do not think this will cause issue. So once page 1 creates an item how to I keep track of it? Where do I get item ID?

Or is this a terrible idea and I can make section 2 work as edit form so I should do edit form for all the sections. In which case how to I make my edit form have the table layout and how to I have one column in list have info from 3-4 columns?

Please help!

Hello,

Firstly welcome!! and Glad to see you part of the community!! Love that you are building your first serious app, totally cool.

Ok, let me start by saying that unfortunately using the Updates feature is the only is the only way to add attachments, aka a form.

Now I will address, more of your post in a bit as I am on a meeting, but you could add a form that ONLY is for attachments and remove everything else. Then when you Patch, do your FormSubmit as well.

Just fying, not saying you should or shouldn't.

let me read the rest.

Cheers

Basically, I think my biggest questions is if on one page I used "Edit form" to create a form what syntax do I used when patching on the next page? How do I tell Power Apps I need to patch() the item I created on the page before? Is there an item ID that I can get from power apps? Then when moving to the third page when I do "Edit form" again for the attachments how to I indicate that I want to update the same item in the SharePoint list as on page one and two of my power app?
