PowerApps API call

Hello!

I am building a PowerApp where I am displaying Released Production Orders from Business Central in my app. The way I want to do it, is to have a gallery of the Production Orders, and when I press one of the items, a new API call is made to fetch more information about the specific order.

Currently I have this code on my overview page with the gallery:

Set(
    ResponseTemp,
    Getreleasedprodorders.Run().response
);
Set(
    ResponseParsed,
    ForAll(
        ParseJSON(ResponseTemp).value,
        {
            id: Text(ThisRecord.No),
            article: Text(ThisRecord.ArticleNo)
        }
    )
)

Then I have a gallery displaying each of the items (ResponseParsed) with their Id and Article. That part works really well. To begin with, I thought I could just do this in the OnSelect of the gallery to send the info I needed to the next page:

Navigate('Specific prod order', ScreenTransition.None, {SelectedProdOrder: ThisItem})

Which, in all fairness, works well, because then I can just add a label and do

SelectedProdOrder.id

in the Text property to display the id for example.

That's what it started with, but I would like to make it a little more advanced, and fetch more data from the Production Order with another API call in the OnVisible of the "Specific prod order" page, and also have a sort of refresh button that does the same, but this is where I am facing some issues.

The response from the API looks exactly the same, but I am not sure how to parse it into a single object, instead of a table like I do in the overview page. This is the response I am getting (although I remove quite a few properties to make it more readable):

{
  "response": "{\"@odata.context\":\"API-URL/prodOrderSingle\",\"value\":[{\"No\":\"PO100088\",\"ArticleNo\":\"3153\",\"AuxiliaryIndex1\":\"Released\"}]}"
}

Is there any way I can parse this JSON response into an object variable, such as "SelectedPO", and use SelectedPO.id or SelectedPO.article in labels on the page? Or even parse each property into separate variables.

The reason why I want a more dynamic approach is because they are able to report each box as packed, and I want to display how many boxes are packed, and how many boxes are left on the order, without having to go back to the overview page to fetch every item again. That's why I want to make a call to fetch a single item and its data.

I figured it out..

Since the response returns a table, I have to do it like this:

Set(Id, Text(First(ResponseParsed).id));

and so on to set the variables. That way I get the values the way I want to.

Hi @hagru ,

Please check this previous topic on how to parse JSON and how to access the values in Power Apps: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Bind-complex-json-to-label-and-dropdown-of-g...

Hi @BCBuizer

That does not provide anything useful in regards to my actual question, as you are displaying the values in a gallery, which is exactly what I am doing as well..?

The thing with the gallery is that it takes advantage of the parsed JSON being a table format, and displays each item like this, which also comes from an API call:

That's no problem. What I am asking for is how I can press a button, send an API call and fetch the info for [let's say] PO100088, store the values from the response in an object or variables, and show them without using a gallery. That way I can press the button to refresh the values shown.
