Good Morning,
I have a Business Card Scanner PowerApp, where I can scan business cards with the AI builder, extract the contact info from the business card and create a Contact in Dynamics 365 for Sales.
When I run the app as an administrator, everything works fine. The administrator has the Dynamics 365 for Sales Enterprise license.
When I run the app as a test user, with an Dynamics 365 Team Members and PowerApps Plan 2 Trial license, I get the error message "Something happened, try again later".
Could this be a licensing issue?

My users are working in and have a license to our Dynamics 365 instance. Is there another piece to add/enable beyond that license and the AI Builder Preview models being set to On?

It looks like I am able to use the scanner (system admin), a few of my co-workers are able to user the scanner (not system admins), but other users in the field are not able to user the scanner. This leads me to think it's a difference in permissions. Everyone has read access to the AI model, so is it possible there's another permission at play?

Hi @Anonymous, assigning one of the users the Common Data Service User role should clear this up.

That takes me back to my first question: What is in the Common Data Service User role that enables the business card scanner? There are a few permissions in the role we would prefer to keep from our users.

Last week when we tried with only AI entities privilege as you have specified in earlier replies it was not working for our user when he was saving the record he was getting error. So we stopped going further . Today we started again and thought of checking it again if someone has raised the same.

We have the same issue. System Admins can use it. Users with Customer Engagement licenses and a less-permissive normal security role cannot. I have tried the AI Model / AI Template change to see if it makes a difference and I'll update this thread.

DO NOT give your users "Common Data Service User". This is what Microsoft Support suggests but they fail to tell you that this will give the user worldwide access to Accounts, maybe some other entities too. Since our company requires accounts to be visible only within your business unit, we did not want to give that out willy-nilly. Much better to give specific permissions. Hope Microsoft Support will read this message next time they get a call about this, so they can give better advice rather than advice that might impact the security of their customers.

We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities. Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”) - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024 Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.
