We have a PowerApp that connects to a Sharepoint List for it's data, which has Sharepoint workflows running on it as well. Occasionally when our users edit one of the entries via the PowerApp, they receive an error about an "internal conflict" and the SubmitForm action fails - I assume because the sharepoint workflow is updating (or has updated) the particular list ID item at the same time.
In the PowerApp, on the displayForm screen I have a "check-in" button which has this code in it:
Refresh('Trip Planner');
Set(browsedFrom,"TripManager");
EditForm(EditForm3);Navigate(ConfirmCheckInScreen, ScreenTransition.None, {editItem:displayItem, Text: browsedFrom})
This takes them to a screen where they confirm they want to check-in the trip.
This has a hidden edit form which has updated the default values of a couple of the sharepoint list fields. The "Yes" button has an action of "SubmitForm(EditForm3)". It is at this point the internal conflict can sometimes happen.
My questions are is there a way to avoid the internal conflict error, and/or retry the operation if it fails the first time? Perhaps using the "onFailure" in the form? Or would moving from sharepoint workflows to using Power Automate flows cause less issues?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I think your thought is right. This issue may be related to your SharePoint workflow. If you press the "Yes" button update your SP List record, and the workflow is updating same SP List Item simultaneously, you would face "Change Conflict" error.
Please consider disable the workflow in your SP List, and then try the SubmitForm(EditForm3) formula again in your app, check if the issue is solved.
If you do not want to disable the workflow in your SP List, I afraid that there is no direct way to get rid of this "internal conflict" error in your canvas app. If you want to retry operation when you faced this error in your app, I agree with you, the OnFailure property of the Edit form (EditForm3) could achieve your needs.
Please set the OnFailure property of your EditForm3 to following:

'Trip Planner',

thanks for the input. Unfortunately some of the workflows need to run as the service the app is supporting a health and safety trip monitor tool for my company. Staff use it to plan fieldwork trips, and then the workflow will set it active at the scheduled time, and then if the user doesn't check-in by the scheduled check-in time escalation actions happen. There are a number of redundant workflows that the Power App I am developing can replace so we should be able to reduce the workflows that are running, just not all of them unfortunately 😞
Thanks for the advice regarding the OnFailure option - I've added it. Hopefully between that and reducing the number of workflows that occur we'll see less errors in the app itself!
