PowerApps Image Loading Performance issue

Hello everyone,

I am facing an issue with my application where I have more than 30 continuous images that need to be displayed with a single click on a button. To achieve this, I have used the Switch function to switch between images based on the value of gblTransitionScreen. eg:Switch, (gblTransitionScreenI, Image, 2, image2. 3, Image3) The formula I have used on the button's OnSelect property is screen Set(gblTransitionScreen, gblTransitionScreen+1) to increment to the next screen.

The scripts are working fine, but the problem I am facing is that there is a delay in loading each screen when I click the button. This delay makes the transition between screens slower than desired. I would appreciate any suggestions or guidance on how to make this process more efficient and reduce the loading time between screens.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Bala

Hi @Balayogesh ,

Could you please share more details about your scenario? Where are these images being stored, uploaded to the App or downloading from cloud services?

I think you can try and save these images into variables OnStart of App, and use these variables in Switch functions. It's wasting time to download images from cloud every time the user navigates to a new screen.

Hi Jefferni,

I have uploaded all the images as Image controls on the application. I am also saving them as variables in the Button OnSelect and Screen Background Image control using Switch functions. However, when I move to the next screen, there is a delay in loading the image. Initially, it shows a white background and then fills the image from top to bottom.  Pleas help me on this your assistance is highly appreciated.

Thank you,
Balayogesh

Hi @v-jefferni,

Please let me know is there we have any other possibility steps to do resolve the above scenario issue?

Hi @Balayogesh ,

Please make sure the images are not too large. If you uploaded png files, please try and save them as jpg file and upload again. Generally, jpg files are smaller but having the same resolution.

Besides, you can try and turn on below feature in studio settings:

Hi @v-jefferni

I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share an update regarding an issue I've been facing with image loading time in PowerApps.

I have made some adjustments to improve the performance as per your suggestion, such as enabling certain options and reducing the size of most images. I have also converted some images to the JPG format. These changes have resulted in a reduction in loading time, but I am still experiencing a delay of around 2 to 3 seconds during screen transitions.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter. Could you please provide any guidance or suggestions on how to further optimize the image loading time in PowerApps?

Additionally, I would like to inquire if there are any options available in PowerApps to download the same images to our local system that have been uploaded to the application. This information would be helpful for my current project.

Thank you in advance for your support and guidance. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Bala

Some times it takes 2 to 3 seconds of loading time some time it takes 4 to 6 sec for loading the images on background.

Hi @Balayogesh ,

The loading time depends on the resolution or file size, as well as the network quality/bandwidth of internet. I cannot think of other ways to enhance the loading performance.

To save images in Image control, there is no simple way but as the alternative you can save images in cloud services such as SharePoint library, then use Download function to save the file using the file URL.

@v-jefferni

I apologize for any confusion caused. I have encountered a situation with my PowerApps where I have uploaded over 40 images in PNG format. Now, I am looking for a solution to download all these images to my local computer and convert them to JPG format. Once converted, I intend to upload them back to PowerApps.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance on how to achieve this. I'm trying this process to reduce the image loading time for now. Your expertise and insights would be invaluable in helping me resolve this issue.-

Hi @Balayogesh ,

These images were not uploaded by you? If it was you who uploaded them, you should have initial image files in your computer.
