PowerApps Sharepoint List Form Not Accepting User-Selected List Values

Hi All,

I have tried a forum search on this topic but none so far have quite solved my issue. I have customized a Sharepoint form in PowerApps and as part of this form, I have set up a defult value in a choice field of "Pass" if a Date field immediately preceding it is NOT blank (chosen by the user). The typical response is "Pass" here. The formula I have placed in the "Default" property of the choice field Data Card is:

If (DataCardValueXX.SelectedDate<>Blank(),{Value: "Pass"},ThisItem.ChoiceField). This appears to work while testing the form in PowerApps studio, however when I publish and return to the Sharepoint List, the form is NOT pulling in any previous values into the form for this field. Also, if I fill out a new form, the default value of "Pass" will appear as expected and if I choose "Fail" manually and save the form, the correct value will appear in the Sharepoint list. If I re-open the record in View mode though, it will again show a value of "Pass" in this field. I obviously have an issue with my Default logic but I am not sure the best way to handle this.

What changes can I make to the form so that on the first appearance of this field, a value of "Pass" will be offered up but going forward, it will just stick with the user-selected value that ends up on the Sharepoint List?

Does this field save correctly to you SharePoint list? And you are just having trouble showing the value if a user changes the default value?

The behavior of the form from my testing is as follows:

1.  When the date field preceding the "pass/fail" choice field is first populated, a default value of "Pass" appears. This is the behavior I expected.
2. If the user selects "Fail" to override the "Pass" value and submits the form, a "Fail" value is recorded in the Sharepoint list.
3. If the user re-opens the form for this list entry in View mode, a "Pass" value will again appear in this field (not what they chose).
4. If the user opens the form in "Edit" mode, the same "Pass" value will be present in this field.
5. If the user doesn't manually change this field back to "Fail" every time they edit the form, the "Pass" value will be recorded in the list.

What I would like to happen is that this field offers up the "Pass" value the FIRST time the user encounters this field but if it is overridden, the form will retain their choice. FormMode.New is not viable here since this Pass/Fail choice doesn't come until later while using the form. The form is designed to track the progress of an applicant through their new-hire process.

Okay, this sounds like you have to change the default logic of your column that shows "Pass"/"Fail".

What is the current logic you have for this column?

I had originally had a default value of "Pass" in the List column but switched it to "No Default" value when I started having problems. This does not appear to have solved my issue.

Just checking back on this. I never resolved this issue. To reiterate, the pass/fail choice column in SharePoint has no default value. I would like the form to insert a “Pass” value to this field when a test date is entered. The issue I’m encountering is that I can get this working by using an IF statement in the Default parameter. Unfortunately, if at any point the value is changed to “Fail” manually and saved, the form will revert the value to “Pass” the next time the form is opened. This is undesirable.

Any other logic I can use to stick with the Sharepoint existing value once it is populated?
