Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create a gallery that is both personalized using
Filter(Table1, PersonResponsible = varUser.FullName)
and that shows the distinct title values that belong to the personalized view. I've seen people use Distinct and GroupBy to get the unique values. Right now I've been using GroupBy to get the unique values with the following code:
GroupBy(Table1, "SalesDoc","DATA")
Separately they do the job, but I need to combine both formulas to get the required view. I keep on getting errors when I stack both formulas with ;.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?
Kind regards,
Rutger

Hi @rutgerverhaar ,
Please try:
GroupBy(Filter(Table1, PersonResponsible = varUser.FullName), "SalesDoc","DATA")

Hi @rutgerverhaar ,
You may try:
"Your actions for today are:
Open orders: " & CountRows(
GroupBy(Filter(Table1, PersonResponsible = varUser.FullName), "SalesDoc","DATA")
)

Hi @rutgerverhaar ,
Ah I see. If you only want to "View" the details of the order from the grouped Gallery, then you could set the DataSource of the Form to be the same as the Gallery Items (the whole GroupBy formula) and Item of the Fomr to Gallery.Selected. But if you will need to modify anything in the Form and submit the form to data source, it's not feasible.
The point of using Forms is just like the doc says:
you set its DataSource property to a table of records, and you set the form's Item property to show a specific record in that table.
Hope this helps.

One final question. How would I use this logic in a welcome message to the user that would show the number of tasks outstanding?
I currently use
"Your actions for today are:
Open orders: " & CountIf(
Table1,
varUser.FullName in PersonResponsible
)
However this doesn't show the unique records.. Would you know how to add the GroupBy or Distinct logic here?
Kind regards

Final final question:
Now I want to use the personalized and groupedby gallery with the code you provided
GroupBy(Filter(Table1, PersonResponsible = varUser.FullName), "SalesDoc","DATA")
And show the fields that are related to the grouped value. Initially I included the following code on the Items 'display form'
ListOfOrders_5.Selected
Where listOfOrders is the gallery. After having changed the items formula for the gallery to show the grouped and personalized items only I receive the following error:
My end goal is to have the user to be able to click on the gallery and have the form on the left show the details that belong to the gallery. However I'm having issues with showing the details on the display form. Do you know what I'm doing wrong here?
Kind regards,
Rutger
Hi @rutgerverhaar ,
So you need click and select one item in the Gallery of grouped orders, which means a single selection represents a group of records. While a Form would only be able to show details of a single record.
For your scenario, I would recommend:
1\ Use the grouped table on welcome screen.
2\ Use the original table in the Gallery as well as the Item of the Form.
3\ Add some Combo boxes for users to filter the Gallery. For example: status, order type, etc..
Hope this helps.

Hi Jefferni,
Thanks for the suggestion!
The goal of the application is to provide the user with a personalized/custom view of all the orders that have been assigned to the user and provide the option to view details of the order and create new orders if needed.
Want I want to achieve is the following:
1) Welcome Screen to say hello to the user and to summarize/provide count of all orders outstanding and assigned to this user only.
2) Gallery underneath the welcome screen that will show a list of all orders that make up the count in section 1. Again only assigned orders to the user only.
3) Display Form or Gallery to the right of the welcome screen that will allow the user to view details of the orders after selecting the order in section 2.
4) Beneath section 3 I would like to provide the user with an edit form in which he/she could edit or create orders.
With this in mind, I think that the suggestion you provided might not work for me. Wouldn't the original table in the gallery (line /2 of your suggestion) show all orders to all users? I'm looking to find a way in which I can link the grouped gallery to the view details form which will display the orders assigned to the user only.
Hope this provides some more context?
Thank you so much for you help so far, I'd be nowhere without your help!
Kind regards

Why would this not be feasible?
