PowerApps is running extremely slow

Hello,

I am building an application and I have realised the more code I add the more slow it gets. Is this happening to anyone else? If I add few lines of code it freezes for good 20 minutes. It has slowed down our development significantly. Please let us know how to proceed further.

Which data source do you use within your app?

If you add large codes within your app, it would consume large CPU resources, memory, and network bandwidth, so your app would execute slowly.

Actually, there are many reasons that an app can be slow to load, slow to respond, and slow to write to data sources. The common reasons as below:

1. A large number of controls added within your app
2. Shaping expressions (i.e. Filter or Search) that contain clauses that require frequent server calls
3. Shaping expressions that are not delegated
4. Use of inherently slow data sources such as Excel on OneDrive
5. ...

Thank you for the response Kris. 

Based on the information you provided. What would you suggest as an appropriate number of controls per app? As of now, my app has 15 forms connected to 15 SQL Server Table. All forms work offline, online and we are able to edit the database data when user is online. Because it is working extremely slow, we need to know the max number of forms and connectors we can use per app.

Our organization is experiencing significant loading times while using PowerApps and SharePoint lists.

Currently, PowerApps load times range between 45-60 seconds. We've chunked all of our SharePoint lists into smaller lists that load into PowerApps COLLECTIONS during both OnStart and OnVisible (and we are still seeing long load times).

We've also tested the following PowerApps Advanced settings with no significant improvements:

• Delayed Load Use Non-blocking
• OnStart rule
• Use longer data cache timeout and background refresh

This might sound like a silly tip...

Dont try to load the whole list at once. Only load the data if the user is requesting it. Also try to apply a filter to the data, so you dont need to load all at once.

If you have a large list and the App fetches all listitems so it can show the user a nice galery it will cost performance. So caching the data makes most sense once the user has requested it. Dont do it onStart and on visible. Try to reduce the amount of data loaded initially. For example make the default view "MyItems" vs "AllItems". Present the user with a search box prior to populating the grid with the data.

The normal user does not need 500 records at once. It makes it only very hard to find the actual records he wants 😉 and you are wasting his time loading data that he is not interested in.

Yes, we've chunked our lists to load in small-mini lists (less than 500 items) at varying points of usage.

We are still noticing significant loading delays.

Some of our users with simple list item changes are taking several minutes to apply.

Please help us! 

Anything over 100 items is causing significant loading delays. (20-30 seconds to load). 

Even when we load just 100 items...it takes 10-15 seconds. 

Can we please get an ETA on fix or update?
