PowerBIIntegration.Data not picking up PowerBI data fields - Name not Valid

Hello,

I have created a new canvas tablet PowerApp with the intent of adding this to an existing PowerBI dashboard which already has several PowerApp visuals sitting in it.

My issue is that I am able to add the visual in PowerBI Desktop, add my PowerBI PowerApps Data bucket, e.g. id_risk, find my new app and open the app in PowerApps and saved it so that all should be connected and linked.

However, in my PowerApp, whilst it now recognises the PowerBIIntegration datasource, it will not pick up "id_risk" as a valid name and thus my app is not able to work.  Has anyone else seen this whereby the connection just doesn't seem to have quite worked.  I have given it a couple of hours to see if it was some kind of sync issue.

Hi @tlawsonpinewalk

Do you mean that you can not use PowerBIIntegration.Data.fieldname?

Could you tell me where do you want to use this formula?

Please try to recreate connection with your powerbi report. Click "refresh" to refresh connection.

Please check the steps about filtering data in PowerApps based on Power BI:

  • Launch the PowerApps app in edit mode from inside your Power BI report. Select the ... on the PowerApps custom visual and click Edit. This will setup up the connection between your Power BI report and that app.
  • Now, whatever fields you selected in Power BI will be available inside of PowerApps as a collection wiht name PowerBIIntegration.Data
  • Now you can write formulas in the Items property to show only for data coming from Power BI.

Here's a similar issue for your reference:

Hello,

I have performed the "Connection" step multiple times with this app, and now with a couple of other simple test apps.

I have other Apps which work with the same PowerBI data fields.  Even a simple Text Label of First(PowerBIIntegration.Data).fieldname does not work.

Normally when I have entered PowerBIIntegration.Data. into the formula bar I will see the fieldname pop up in the suggestion box.  This doesn't happen on these newly created apps.  I have also tried starting from a new PowerBI report but still suffer the same problem.

If I add a PowerApp visualisation and create new app then the connection works and PowerBIIntegration.Data. works as I expect.

I am still suffering this problem.

As a workaround I have taken one of my existing apps that works with the dashboard, "Save As" a new app and the connection to my powerbiintegration.data still works when I add this new app to the dashboard.  It appears as though newly created apps from scratch are not connecting for me.

Hellow @tlawsonpinewalk Did you ever get to the bottom of how to make this PowerBIIntegration connection to an existing app work? I am suffering the same problem and it is extremely frustrating. Thank you

Hi, I realise this is 2 years after your original post but did you ever find a solutions to this issue?

I'm having exactly the same problem....PowerApps can see the new field I'm passing in PowerBIIntegration but it thinks it's blank....and I know there is data in it. I've tried all the Refresh stuff too...no difference.

Thanks

Make sure the environment you're in has Power BI visualization embedding enabled. You can turn this on in Power Platform admin center > (Your Environment) > Settings > Product > Features. You'll find it under "Embedded content."

Hope this helps!

I have the exact same issue.

Did any of you ever find a solution?

I thought my message was pretty helpful. Should be the last one before yours.

I'm afraid not, Robert.

I did enable the "Embedded Content", but it didn't do anything, and the new fields are still not available.
