Powerapps - camera resolution 640x480

Hi,

I created an application to take picture of my invoices and send it to my sharepoint.

The quality of the picture is very low and the pictures can't be use.

I read old topics (dated to 2017 and 2018 years) talk about this point and the fact that the camera resolution is limitated to 640x480p.

The camera resolution is still limitated or I've another issue with my application ?

If the limitated stil exist, di you have an idea to solve my problem ?

My application is very simply : I take picture with the function "On.select : Camera1.Stream" and send it to the sharepoint

Hi @BALTA ,

The resolution is indeed 640x480. We take tens of thousand of photos in the field and wish that it was more, but the workaround is simple - take a photo  (dial down the device resolution if necessary) using the camera outside Power Apps, upload it using the Add Picture control and save it as normal. I have done a blog on Picture storing and viewing that may be useful.

Warren, by this way you can only add 1 photo at a time, this is impossible to work with, did you find any way? i'm losing a client over this, i'm raging.

Hi, did you find a solution for this problem? We also need a higher resolution of the pictures taken but also need the possibility for multiple uploads on an iphone or android mobile...

For people who are looking for a solution, I may have found one.

I don't use the Camera Control, instead I manage this with the Add Picture Control in the Media tab.

In order to save a click and directly access the camera of the phone I added the experimental function Improved Media Capture

which you can activate in the settings and is required according to the documentation for Android devices. After that, the Add Picture Control has a property called UseMobileCamera. Set the property to true and my phone directly accesses the camera rather than asking for which input to use (Camera or Files). The resolution there is limited to the devices camera but I bet better than the basic resolution provided by power apps. This may be a tad slower than just simply clicking the Camera Control but the advantages are just better here and the pictures taken can still relatively fast be collected and shown in a gallery.

This solution works pretty well. Thanks. I still find that my resolution is somewhat limited though; about 1300x900 on my iPhone 12. Any thoughts on this?

I just watched a video from Shane Young on the subject of the camera and add picture controls. In the video he mentioned that PowerApps has an option in the settings to 'optimize images for upload'. Unchecking this uploads images from the add picture control at their full resolution.
