I have a page with two forms, let's call them the Form 1 and Form 2.
Basically, the way they work is that any information in the data cards in Form 1 are reflected in their identical data cards in Form 2, with one exception (The reference data card).
The way I have done this is by utilising a patch in the Items section in Form 2 as per below.
Patch(Defaults('CDR Tracker 1'),{Urgent:Form1.Updates.Urgent,
Requestor:Form1.Updates.Requestor,
Office:Form1.Updates.Office,
DateofRequest:Form1.Updates.DateofRequest,
Status:Form1.Updates.Status,
DateDue:Form1.Updates.DateDue,
Source:Form1.Updates.Source,
Comments:Form1.Updates.Comments})
I have one data card value called Reference, which is to be unique to each form, so the Reference for form 1 and 2 will not be identical although all other values will.
So, if I add the Reference to Form 1 and then Form 2, but then for whatever reason change any of the above values i.e Urgent in Form 1, then the Reference in Form 2 will reset and clear. How do I stop the patch clearing the reference data card in form 2 if I amend any of the details in form 1?
Hi @Cargue96 ,
Firstly, you can do this OnSuccess of the Form
Patch(
'CDR Tracker 1',
Defaults('CDR Tracker 1'),
{
Urgent: Self.LastSubmit.Urgent,
Requestor: Self.LastSubmit.Requestor,
Office: Self.LastSubmit.Office,
DateofRequest: Self.LastSubmit.DateofRequest,
Status: Self.LastSubmit.Status,
DateDue: Self.LastSubmit.DateDue,
Source: Self.LastSubmit.Source,
Comments: Self.LastSubmit.Comments
}
)
but I am little confused as to the content of the two cards - I assume they are different data sources ?

Both forms use the same data sources. I have basically made it so that I can submit two forms at once with identical information with the exception of the reference, e.g I am adding data they have the same requestor office etc but then I need them too both have unique references. Where would I put the on success formula in form 2?
Hi @Cargue96 ,
Are you trying to write 2 new records here - I am more than a little confused on what you are trying to do.
Yes that is correct so the forms are adding new records to the SharePoint list in the background.
So the page is called add request, I then use either form 1 or both of these forms dependent on how many requests so if we receive two requests from the same requestor then I can use both forms to add 2 requests at the same time. I have a button on the form page which opens form 2 if required, form 2 will copy all the info from from form 1 using the patch i have previously mentioned.
For example I got two requests from Mike, it's the same day, same office, I will add the details of the first request in Form 1 including the reference then click the button for form 2 all the information in form 1 will be in form 2, I just then add the reference this all works fine. The problem I have is if I realise that some of the info in form 1 is incorrect so I amend that in form 1 it clears the reference in form 2 I just want to know if there is anyway to prevent that!
What modes are these forms in (New/Edit etc) and what is the Item of each ?
The form 1 is in new mode there are not items in this form. Form 2 is in edit mode and the items for this form are the below:
Patch(Defaults('CDR Tracker 1'),{Urgent:Form1.Updates.Urgent,
Requestor:Form1.Updates.Requestor,
Office:Form1.Updates.Office,
DateofRequest:Form1.Updates.DateofRequest,
Status:Form1.Updates.Status,
DateDue:Form1.Updates.DateDue,
Source:Form1.Updates.Source,
Comments:Form1.Updates.Comments})
Really appreciate your help with this.
@Cargue96 ,
We are going in circles a bit here - that is the original code you posted. I assume that is the Patch code to save Form2. What I need to know is the Item of Form2 (the record it is displaying) and also confirm the DataSource is the same as Form1. Your question was How do I stop the patch clearing the reference data card in form 2 if I amend any of the details in form 1 - I need to know how you are displaying the field values in Form2 - in particular the Default (or equivalent) values of the controls.
Hi,
Apologies for the delay as I have been away! The Datasource is the same for both Form 1 and Form 2.
I am displaying the values in Form 2 as Parent. Default values and then choices data source for any multiple choice values, hope that makes sense.
Thanks
