Problem with searching a table created in Teams

I'm a novice and am trying to create an app in Teams to streamline a cumbersome administrative process.

Have created a customers table within Teams called 'Custs'. I am attempting to search that table using input in a textbox. The environment is connected to the table. My steps:

1) Create a vertical gallery showing title only (the fieldname is 'Name' which is also the primary field)

2) Create textbox with a value of ""

3) Select gallery and select Items descriptor from dropdown

5) Type formula: Search(Custs,TextBox1.Text,"cr797_name")

I receive an error message as soon as the word 'Search' is typed. Error message: The function 'Search' has some invalid arguments. Location Gallery1.items. 

I tried the same process with a table connected via an SQL connection and got the same result. Is there an issue doing searches in Teams? Perhaps a different syntax? 

I get the same error when trying to use the Filter function.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will 'like' any response and will duly recognize solutions.

i think your search is formatted wrong ...

Search(Custs,"cr797_name",TextBox1.Text)

or filter

Filter(Custs, TextBox1.Text in cr797_name)

@C-Papa Thanks. I was following a youtube video for that syntax. However, I changed the formula per your suggestion and still get the same error. 

Is there any significance to the fact that the error shows up as soon as I begin typing 'Search'?

What's the data type of your name column? Search works against text columns only, so if the data type of cr797_name is something other than text, that would be a possible explaination.

To diagnose this further, I would substitute cr797_name with some other text column to see whether the problem is specific to that column.

@timl Good thoughts. The data type of cr797_name is indeed text. I just tried using another text column and have the same error.

@timl @C-Papa Problem solved. The issue was with trying to search from the textbox object. I enabled the Classic controls and added a Text Input box. I can search from that without issue. I just have to hope that won't be deprecated or that they will fix what appears to be a bug with searching from a textbox.

@Nick_F Please note that the Teams TextBox control doesn't have a .Text property, only a two-way .Value property.  In your case, the formula should read Search(Custs,TextBox1.Value,"cr797_name")

Hi @_Corey_ this has been an absolute life saver today. I searched for hours to find this. I am transferring from SharePoint List to Dataverse for Teams. In PowerApps with a SharePoint connector i used TextBox1.Text which was returning an error in Powerapps with a Dataverse for Teams connector. TextBox1.Value worked a treat!

How can i find information on any more differences like this one?
