Recollection after Clear

Hi all, 

I have made an editable grid table based on Raza Dorani (thanks for the amazing video!, Power Apps Editable Table using Gallery in Dataverse for Teams - YouTube.

On change of the drop down fields I have the following code:

If(ThisItem.Referral in colJobsUptades2.Referral,
     Update(colJobsUptades2,
     LookUp(colJobsUptades2, Referral = ThisItem.Referral),
     {
     ReferralNumber: ThisItem.ReferralNumber,
     'Sending Hospital': ComboBox2.Selected,
     'Receiving Hospital': ComboBox2_1.Selected,
     Referral: ThisItem.Referral
}
),
Collect(colJobsUptades2,
     {
     ReferralNumber: ThisItem.ReferralNumber,
     'Sending Hospital': ComboBox2.Selected,
     'Receiving Hospital': ComboBox2_1.Selected,
     Referral: ThisItem.Referral
}))

After this, there is a Button with following code: 

Patch(Referrals, colJobsUptades2) ; Clear(colJobsUptades2)

It will save correctly all changes but the collection will clear initially and AUTO collect all the Items in the list. 

Any ideas to stop this from the auto collection?

Hi @pacopepe82,

Are you saying that colJobsUptades2 auto collects all items in the list?

If so, can you see what colJobsUptades2 contains (using the formula bar) before the save button is clicked?

So I start with an empty collection. 

After changing some dropdowns it will populate with the approppiate records. I click save and it sabes correctly, but the collection will momentarely disappear and within a second will fill with all the items of the dataverse table. If I clic Save again, then the collection will empty completely. Is this what you meant @KeithAtherton ?

Thank you, I understand. When you click save, does the grid and colJobsUptades2 fill with all items from the Dataverse table? Or just one of those things fill with all items?

It first saves to data verse and then both grid and collection fill with the data verse data

Great. So, if the save button ends with Clear(colJobsUptades2), the collection clears.

What code populates the colJobsUptades2 collection?

No idea, that’s the reason for the query. 
I have put all the code for that button. 
The only other place where it’s mentioned the coljobsupdates2 collection is On Start of the app, where:

Clearcollext(coljobsupdates2, referrals); Clear(coljobsupdates2)

so the collection captures the columns but it deletes all the items.

any idea for the mystery?

I was interested in code in the app that affects the colJobsUptades2 collection other then the save button OnSelect.

As the App.OnStart events fires only on app start, that code should not affect the collection after the save button click so we can ignore that for now.

What is the code for the editable grid items property?

So the Items property of the gallery is only the Dataverse table: Referrals

An then its the on change of each dropdown also has the code including the colJobsUptades2... thats the code in the initial query. 

There is no other code including colJobsUptades2 I am afraid

I am testing it again and again, and it seems that after clincking Save (patch code + Clear the collection) the Gallery refreshes the information from Dataverse and the OnChange code interprets it like its changing the selection, recapturing the information to the collection.  I hope this helps more to huide me to a solution
