Referencing a Dependent Dropdown - Power Apps

Hi All,

i am trying to create a simple event registration form in power Apps. It links to a Sharepoint List.

it has Event Name : multiple events with same name are there so it uses filter on Items " 

Distinct('Event Register', EventName) ". ( I could not filter this by ascending order , any input would be helpful)

It has an Event Date which is dependent on Event Name. It is filtered based on the selection on Event Name dropdown.
Formula is 

Filter(

    'Event Register',

    EventName = DDEventName.Selected.Value && Date >= Today()

)

Now, I have location. I set location to be a dropdown with Display mode View. I want the location to display the location of the selected event based on time and date.

On the Items Property, I am using formula :

Distinct(Filter('Event Register', EventName =DDEventName.Selected.Value&&Text(Date)=Text(DDEventDate.Selected.Value)), Location)

ERRORS : && Text(Date) has delegation warning. Says it may not work on large Data Set.
Text(DDEventDate.Selected.Value) says Value is not recognised.

It seems to be difficult to reference dependent dropdowns or it might be that I am just a beginner.

Can someone please help me out?

Again, ddEventDate also needs the field name selected (it may not be Value)

For Filtering ; I believe it should stay as

EventName = DDEventName.Selected.Value , as any other way is throwing an error. EventName Dropdown is not dependent on any dropdown so selected value should work ?

for DDEventDate I am using DDEventDate.Selected.EventName , this code is accepted without displaying any error but the Location dropdown is displaying no value 😐

I will try and set this out as best I can as this is a quite fundamental filter and all you need are the value references displayed in each of the drop-downs for this to work. I cannot see your data, so have to rely on you to get these. I find it strange that ddEventName is not displaying/outputting EventName (if that is one of the outputs). You then simply need the name of the field in ddEventDate (maybe it is EventDate). Are these Classic or Modern controls ?

I am new to powerapps ( you can tell) but I thought it is pretty basic conditional dropdown but I can't seem to achieve what I want.

Please select each and choose Edit from the right panel and see what field name is displayed.

The answer to the question I have been asking seems to be Date (not a good name for a field as it is also a Reserved Word in Power Apps). You are going to need to know how to find this value every time you deal with the output of a drop-down or a Combo Box in the future and it is simply the name of the field that you are selecting in the control. This will either be Value in the case of a Choice/Lookup column or a Distinct Filter or the field name in whatever list you are displaying.
