Hi
I have a form on a canvas and I have a button on the screen that lets the user edit the data in the form ( changes the form mode from view to edit) . Once the user is happy with the edits, they hit a button that has a Submit form in it and it changes the form mode back to Display. The data is stored in a SharePoint List.
Here is the issue, the data saves fine to the SharePoint but does not appear in the form unless I close the form and then return to it by selecting the screen that holds the form from a gallery. I tried issuing a Refresh in the Save button but no luck. I also tried Gallery.Selected from the save button on the screen holding the form. Again no luck...
Is there a trick to get the data submitted to form to show up in the form without exiiting the form and then re-opening the form?

Hi all,
I have no luck trying all the method suggested. Could anyone please help to provide a more comprehensive steps to it? Thanks in advance
1. Add Refresh (DataSource) in the OnSuccess property of the Edit form.
2. Turn off the "Use longer data cache timeout and background refresh" under Experimental Features in Advanced Settings.
(File --> Settings --> Advanced Settings)
I dont see this option in my power app.
Use longer data cache timeout and background refresh"
I've tried adding the refresh as instructed but doesn't help.

I had the same problem. I don't use a form control, I just have several input controls on a page for which I can view the details of (controls in view mode) or edit the details (controls are put into edit mode). After submitting the changes (using the Patch function), controls go back into view mode.
I was having the same issue mentioned in previous comments where the data in SharePoint was correctly patched but the old record values were beind displayed in my app when reverting into view mode.
I used @PhilD 's second solution and it worked well. It basically stored the new record value, which is passed back by the Patch function when the patching is successful, into my 'varRecord' record variable:
Set(varRecord, Patch(CaseDetails,varRecord,{RequestorPhone:RequestorPhone_txt_ODS.Text,RequestorEmail:RequestorEmail_txt_ODS.Text}))
Hate to bump this, but I just spent a bunch of time cobbling together the solutions in this thread.
For anyone encountering this issue, here's the solution from the top:
This works as of October 1st, 2020.
On your 'SearchItems' screen:
• Gallery's 'OnSelect' property:
Navigate(ViewItem, ScreenTransition.None); Set(varItem,Gallery1.Selected)
On your 'ViewItem' screen:
• The form's 'Item' property:
varItem
• The 'Edit' button 'OnSelect' property:
Refresh('MyList'); EditForm(Form1); Navigate(EditItem, ScreenTransition.None)
On your 'EditItem screen:
• The 'OnSelect' property for your submit button:
SubmitForm(Form1)
• The 'OnSuccess' property for your form:
Refresh('MyList'); Set(varItem,Form1.LastSubmit); Navigate(ViewItem)
Thank you Anonymous for this. Setting the variable with Editformname.LastSubmit was exactly what I needed - as I navigate to the form from several different galleries in my app.
I am here in 2022 having this same issue - I cannot seem to make either of the two solutions work and I am curious if the newest version of SharePoint requires a different workaround, and if so what would that workaround be?
@PhilD Thanks for your suggestion and it did fix the refresh issue for me. But how do you deep link to an item on an email without setting a variable to Gallery.Selected? I need to set an onStart property to an item in the list, but the link just defaults to the first item in the gallery. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks
