@ClarkyPA365 ,

You now have an extra bracket and are missing DisplayName in the Person field - so for a Person field

Patch(
   ExemptionItems,
   ThisItem,
   {
      Supervisor: lblExpSupervisor.Text,
      'Supervisor Email': lblExpSupervisorEMail.Text,
      'Staff Name':
      {
         '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPlistExpandedReference",
         Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(ComboStaffName.Selected.Mail),
         DisplayName:ComboStaffName.Selected.DisplayName,
         Department:"",
         JobTitle:"",
         Picture:""
      },
      Ward: lblExpDept.Text,
      'Date Exemption': DateExemp.SelectedDate,
      Email: ComboStaffName.Selected.Mail,
      Division: lblExpDept.Text,
      'Job Title': lblExpJobTitle.Text,
      'Exemption Reason': DrpExempReason.SelectedText.Value,
      'Other Reason': txtOtherReason.Text
  }
)

however if it is now a Single Line of Text as you have noted

Patch(
   ExemptionItems,
   ThisItem,
   {
      Supervisor: lblExpSupervisor.Text,
      'Supervisor Email': lblExpSupervisorEMail.Text,
      'Staff Name': ComboStaffName.Selected.Mail,
      Ward: lblExpDept.Text,
      'Date Exemption': DateExemp.SelectedDate,
      Email: ComboStaffName.Selected.Mail,
      Division: lblExpDept.Text,
      'Job Title': lblExpJobTitle.Text,
      'Exemption Reason': DrpExempReason.SelectedText.Value,
      'Other Reason': txtOtherReason.Text
   }
)

Hi @ClarkyPA365 ,

I am a bit confused here - you are initially creating a new blank new collection, but then patching to the collection and then immediately clearing it. You do not need the last step if you want to subsequently add more items to it - or have I misread your post?

Hi @WarrenBelz

The ClearCollect is attached to my button on the Home screen

ClarkyPA365_0-1650010141402.png

The Patch and collect formula is related to the Add New Person icon on another screen.

Hope that helps?

Regards

Chris

Hi @ClarkyPA365 ,

OK I see it now (I did misread it - brain was not fully engaged) , but asked the wrong question - how are you then saving the collection to your data source and what is it that goes missing?

Hi,

I'm saving it as a collection ExemptionItems but when I select the Add New Person the name previously selected, 1st record, no longer shows in the Combobox even though information has been saved. even though is the wrong information needed.

ClarkyPA365_0-1650013208183.png
Also in my collection the data being stored for Staff Name is displaying as the Email and not name

@ClarkyPA365 ,

What are the Items of the gallery and the Text(Labels) or Default  (or DefaultSelectedItems for Combo Boxes) of the controls you are writing to?

Hi Warren,

The Items I'm writing to is a collection

ClarkyPA365_0-1650194410578.png

And nothing for the ComboBox, DefaultSelectedItems

ClarkyPA365_2-1650194576921.png
The txtbox as two ""

ClarkyPA365_4-1650194726200.png

I have nothing in Default for either Gallery or Combobox

@ClarkyPA365 ,

I was really after the field names and types you are reading from/writing to and you did not give me the Items of the Combo Boxes, but I can work most of this out from your original post.
The reason that your data is "disappearing" is that you need to set the DefaultSelectedItems (Combo Box), DefaultDate (DatePicker) or Default(Text Boxes and a few other controls) to show the data in the field you have just saved. I will post below all the possible fields you are writing to

DefaultSelectedItems
of your Combo Boxes

ComboStaffName - I am guessing the output as you have not given me the Items

{'Staff Name':ThisItem.'Staff Name'}

DrpExempReason

{Value:ThisItem.'Exemption Reason'}

DefaultDate of your Date Picker DateExemp

ThisItem.'Date Exemption'

Default of Text Box txtOtherReason

ThisItem.'Other Reason’

Please also remember in future to post in Text also and watch spelling above as I had to OCR it.

Hi Warren,

I've managed to get the 'staff name' to display the actual name and not the Email address in the Collection (ExemptionItems)

ClarkyPA365_0-1650358109196.png

Replaced PrincipalUserName with DisplayName  ('Staff Name': ComboStaffName.Selected.DisplayName

Still not seeing the names in the fields after adding a new person??

ClarkyPA365_1-1650358374379.png

The Items (ComboStaffName)

ClarkyPA365_2-1650358490009.png

@ClarkyPA365 ,

This is the first you have mentioned a Person field (I simply do not use them). I suspect the Items will involve DisplayName, so your DefaultSelectedItems will also refer to that.
