Reset the rich text editor (experimental)

Hi everybody!

It's great that the rich text editor is now available in PowerApps (even if its still experimental)! But is there any possibility to reset the editor? I want to reset the editor when another screen shows up. For other controls it's no problem by having "Reset(Name of the control)" in the OnVisible function of the screen. But unfortunatelly, with the rich text editor the reset function does not work.

Are there any workarounds or is it planned to enable the reset function for the rich text editor?

The reset functionality for that control is planned, and should be implemented in an upcoming release.

Currently, a possible workaround is to define the default value for the control in a variable, and update the value of that variable when you want to reset the control - any time a variable value is changed, it will trigger the data flow that will let the control know that it needs to re-evaluate that value. So if you set the Default property of the RichTextEditor to 'myDefault', you can set the following expression in the screen's OnVisible control:

UpdateContext({
    myDefault:
    "<p>This is the <b>default</b> value.</p>" &
        "<p>And it has <span style="color: red;">two lines</span>.</p>" })

The attached app shows this expression in action.

This is working now - you can call Reset on a Rich Text Editor control:

This feature still doesn't seem to work. I have a button with an OnSelect property of Reset(RichTextEditor1) and it doesn't do anything when clicked. The button is also in the same form as the rich text editor. No errors show up either.

Remove that button from the app and again add a button. Insert the below code on the OnSelect property to reset. I hope it will help you.
