Retrieve emails by category from Office365Outlook in PowerApps

I'm trying to extract emails from my outlook365 account that have been assigned a specific category.  In Outlook, I tag an email as Radar which is a Red Category.

This page identifies the searchable properties.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/policy-and-compliance/ediscovery/message-properties-and-se...

This works as expected:

Set(SearchCat,"importance:low");
ClearCollect(myMail,Office365Outlook.GetEmailsV3({searchQuery:SearchCat}).value);

ImportanceThe importance of an email message, which a sender can specify when sending a message. By default, messages are sent with normal importance, unless the sender sets the importance as high or low.importance:high
importance:medium
importance:low
Messages that are marked as high importance, medium importance, or low importance.

None of these work:

Set(SearchCat,"category:red");

Set(SearchCat,"category:red category");

Set(SearchCat,"category:Radar");

Set(SearchCat,"category:" & Char(34) & "Red Category" & Char(34));

CategoryThe categories to search. Categories can be defined by users by using Outlook or Outlook on the web (formerly known as Outlook Web App). Valid values are:
• blue
• green
• orange
• purple
• red
• yellow
category:"Red Category"Messages that have been assigned the red category in the source mailboxes.

I've tried various capitalization and various methods for inserting quotes into the variable.  When using quotes, it comes back unterminated string error messages.  using single quotes verse double quotes doesn't work either.

Open to suggestions.

I still need to find a solution to fetching emails that were identified or tagged without changing content as something on my 'Radar'.

So I created a folder in my Inbox called Radar.  Created a Quick Action to Copy and Categorize as 'Radar'.

Modified my Query to use the folder, and it didn't work.  😑

Digging into this I realized I was missing a key parameter.  It was only pulling back 'unread' emails.  Once I fixed that, I decided to try the category filter again.  And it works.   Also tested in back in the main Inbox folder, and it works there as well.

Final function code:

Set(SearchCat,"category:'Radar'");
ClearCollect(myMail,Office365Outlook.GetEmailsV3({folderPath:"Inbox",fetchOnlyUnread:false, searchQuery:SearchCat}).value);

This code return only emails that had the Category 'Radar' assigned.

Hi @DGreening ,

The search query is executed via microsoft graph, so here is the article with supported properties you can search for :

https://docs.microsoft.com/graph/query-parameters#search-parameter. - chapter search parameter.

Unfortunately, there is no way to retreive your email filtered by categories.

Hope it helps !

Thank you, @gabibalaban

That is the page that gave me the link to searchable properties in Exchange, which I linked to.  Obviously, I made a leap assumption that if the link was there, that it was to provide additional clarity on what could be searched.

This inability to access tagged type attributes from PowerApps seems to be a recurring theme.   Can't read the tagged attributes in Planner, for example.

Thank you for your time to respond.
