Save data from EditForm to Gallery items

Hi!

I would just like a simple screen where on the left side you have a list of names (and the possibility to add more) and on the right side you should see a all recorded incidents related to the selected name (and the possibility to add more).

The setup you see in the picture is a Gallery to the left (connected to data source "Names") and EditForm to the right (connected to data source "Incidents").

How do I link the data sources so when I select one name to the left I can see all incidents recorded to just that name?

Or is there a better way to achieve this?

Hi, the gallery on the left would hold the names from your previously submitted forms. you need to set your gallery data source to your database name. then add a button to you gallery where the button text = the column name in your database. for example, in SharePoint it would be [ColumnName].DisplayName assuming you are using the person choice field. 

The data source for the edit form would be the same as the gallery but the item property would be
[YourGalleryName].selected

To add a new entry for the form you would add a button outside of the gallery and set its onselect to NewForm([YourFormName])

Hmm. When I try to add a new incident I can't save because I'm using the same data source for the Gallery and EditForm and I don't want the EditForm to show the first column (the ID number/name). It's giving the error that the required column isn't edited (the ID of the person).


I just want the revelant info on the incident to the right and list of IDs/Names to the left.
And when I add a new incident it should always stay there (in the EditForm) and pressing "New Incidient" button on the EditForm should create new entries related to the selected ID/Name in the Gallery.

Example:
Selecting John Doe in Gallery -> EditForm shows three rows of previously recorded unique incidents
Selecting James Bond in Gallery -> EditForm shows only one unique incident, pressing "New Incident"-button records a second incident to James Bond.

In the Gallery: ID and Name should be required to add, but not on the EditForm (it shouldn't show there)

Hi, what you are trying to do is not possible, an editform shows 1 record only at a time, to allow you to edit it. my suggestion would be to either have a dropdown box when the items are unique names from the people that have had incidents, this then filters the gallery to show all of the incidents for that person, then you can view / edit each incident. Or, you have two gallery's, one with the unique names and one containing the incidents which is filtered against the names. To create a new entry, by using NewFrom() it converts the form to a blank new entry, regardless of what is in the item property. you have the same functionality for EditForm() & ViewForm().

Yeah, I thought it would be impossible when using a single data source, thats why I tried with two different data sources. I just want records in Data source B to be saved/linked to the one name (Row 1) in Data source A (Gallery) and have different records in Data source B to be saved/link to the second name (Row2) in Data source A (Gallery).

Then have the ability to create new records in Data source B to be saved to the selected name (Row) in Data Source A (Gallery), and also have the ability to create new names/rows in Data Source A (Gallery).

I thought it might be possible with a many-to-one relationship between data sources. I know how to create relationship but not how to actually execute it/write the formulas so when I add a new Incident (Data Source B, EditForm) it gets saved to the selected Name (Data Source A, Gallery).
