Saving a dropdown menu and text box in one SharePoint list column

Hello, I just started learning PowerApps and I ran into an issue which I was hoping you could help me solve. So, I have a dropdown menu with some rooms available and I have the an option for "Other" which shows a text box and allows user to type a location that isn't added in the given dropdown menu. The issue is that when I pick a location that's given from "RoomsAvailable" (Images below) it doesn't save in the SharePoint list or show in the gallery. However, when I click other and, type the location and hit submit, it shows it in the SharePoint list and gallery. Below are some images to help you understand the issue.

So, as you can see in the images above when I click other it brings out the text box and whatever I type gets saved into the "Events" location column, however when I pick one of the given options and click submit it doesn't save or show in the vertical gallery. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Based on your description, it seems that you have a dropdown menu with predefined options for rooms, and when the user selects the "Other" option, a text box appears for them to enter a custom location. However, when the user selects one of the predefined options, it doesn't save or show in the SharePoint list or gallery.

To resolve this issue, you need to modify the code associated with the Submit button. Currently, it is only saving the value from the text box when the "Other" option is selected. You need to update the code to handle both scenarios: when the user selects a predefined option and when they enter a custom location.

Here's an example of how you can modify the code for the Submit button to handle both scenarios:

  1. Select the Submit button in PowerApps.
  2. In the formula bar, update the OnSelect property with the following code:

If(
    Dropdown.Selected.Value = "Other",
    Patch(
        Events,
        Defaults(Events),
        {
            Location: TextInput.Text
        }
    ),
    Patch(
        Events,
        Defaults(Events),
        {
            Location: Dropdown.Selected.Value
        }
    )
);
ResetForm(EventForm);
Refresh('SharePointListName')

In this updated code, the If statement checks if the selected value in the dropdown is "Other". If it is, the Patch function saves the value from the text box (TextInput.Text) into the "Location" column of the SharePoint list. If the selected value is not "Other", it saves the selected value from the dropdown (Dropdown.Selected.Value) into the "Location" column.

Make sure to replace 'SharePointListName' with the actual name of your SharePoint list.

Additionally, the code includes the ResetForm function to clear the form after submission and the Refresh function to update the gallery with the latest data from the SharePoint list.

Save the app and test it again. Now, when the user selects a predefined option or enters a custom location, it should save and show correctly in the SharePoint list and gallery.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

    ),
    Patch(

        {
            Location: Dropdown.Selected.Value
        }
    )
);
ResetForm(EventForm);
Refresh('SharePointListName')

I got it working thanks @ShaheerAhmad!
I just had to add title like this:

If(
    DataCardValue13.Selected.Title = "Other",
    Patch(
        Events,
        Defaults(Events),
        {
            Title: DataCardValue10.Text,
            Location:DataCardValue14.Text
        }
    ),
    Patch(
        Events,
        Defaults(Events),
        {
            Title: DataCardValue10.Text,
            Location: DataCardValue13.Selected.Title
        }
    )
);
ResetForm(Form4);
Refresh(Events);
Navigate(HomePage)

I also Added the StartDate and EndDate. Heres the code:

If(
    DataCardValue13.Selected.Title = "Other",
    Patch(
        Events,
        Defaults(Events),
        {
            Title: DataCardValue10.Text,
            Location: DataCardValue14.Text,
            StartTime: DateValue(DateValue5) + TimeValue(Text(HourValue5.Selected.Value, "[$-en-US]00") & ":" & Text(MinuteValue5.Selected.Value, "[$-en-US]00")),
            EndTime: DateValue(DateValue6) + TimeValue(Text(HourValue6.Selected.Value, "[$-en-US]00") & ":" & Text(MinuteValue6.Selected.Value, "[$-en-US]00"))
        }
    ),
    Patch(
        Events,
        Defaults(Events),
        {
            Title: DataCardValue10.Text,
            Location: DataCardValue13.Selected.Title,
            StartTime: DateValue(DateValue5) + TimeValue(Text(HourValue5.Selected.Value, "[$-en-US]00") & ":" & Text(MinuteValue5.Selected.Value, "[$-en-US]00")),
            EndTime: DateValue(DateValue6) + TimeValue(Text(HourValue6.Selected.Value, "[$-en-US]00") & ":" & Text(MinuteValue6.Selected.Value, "[$-en-US]00"))
        }
    )
);
ResetForm(Form4);
Refresh(Events);
Navigate(HomePage)
