Search Function into folders

Hello

I have created a document gallery in my app with filter and search function.

In my sharepoint are too many folders, so I created the following variable:

OnStart: Set(varFolderPath;"Documents/General/")

My Document Gallery Items: Search(Filter(Documents;Folderpath=varFolderPath);Searchbar.Text;"{FilenameWithExtension}")

Now I have the problem that the search function only works within the current folder view, but does not go into each folder to search for text in there. How to make this possible?

Hi @pascontz ,

You need to search all files in the library based on the search texts first, then filter result files that in the folder. Please try below formula:

Filter(Search(Documents;Searchbar.Text;"{FilenameWithExtension}");StartsWith('Folder path';varFolderPath))

Thank you for your support. The form works, but the second section with StartsWith is being ignored.

It again shows me all the available folders that are in my SharePoint, like my first condition:

Search(Filter(Documents;Folderpath=varFolderPath);Searchbar.Text;"{FilenameWithExtension}")

With below condition it will show me the exact folders i want to see in my gallery, but without search function:

Filter(Documents;Folderpath=varFolderPath)

But i want both. It is possible?

Hi @pascontz ,

You shall first check the search part and see if all files can be found based on the search text and list in the Gallery:

Search(Documents;Searchbar.Text;"{FilenameWithExtension}")

Then Filter function will narrow them down to the folder you selected before. Therefore, you will only see files in that folder in the Gallery.

In other words, you will see all the folders in the Gallery before typing in search text to search a file. As soon as you start to search, files that File Name with Extension match the search text will list in the Gallery, unless you type in a folder name.

Actually, I still do not understand what you want to achieve. You have nested files in nested folders, right? What do you want to search exactly? Files, folders that include the files being searched or all nested folders? Imagine in the library you have nested folders like below:

In folder4 there are 2 files X and Y.  When you search for X, what do you want to list in the Gallery?

I am satisfied with the search function, that works.

What I want is that not all folders are displayed in the gallery, only the folders i have selected with the form:

OnStart: Set(varOrdnerPfad;"Released Documents/General/")

You have not answered my question: 

What do you want to search exactly? Files, folders that include the files being searched or just folders? Imagine in the library you have nested folders like below:

In folder4 there are 2 files X and Y.  When you search for X, what do you want to list in the Gallery?

I want to search files, that are in folders.

With this formula

Search(Documents;Searchbar.Text;"{FilenameWithExtension}")

 it is possible, but i dont want so see all folders in my sharepoint, only folders in "Released Documents/General/"

Hi @pascontz ,

That's exact what the Filter function will do in my formula, filtering files that are inside all the folders which folder path begin with "Released Documents/General/" or any folder as the variable. It will not list any folder, just files filtered based on the search texts.

In my app for example, I have OIP image in folder 1, and same file in folder 3 which is sub folder of folder 1:

If I filter in Shared documents, both file could be found and see in the Gallery:

whilst if I search in folder 3, only the file in folder 3 will be in the Gallery:

That's right, with formula from your screenshot above it will display all folders and items from Shared "Documents/General/" but also all the subfolders. I want only display the first main folders without subfolders and items in there, but i want to search them.

What i now see:

Main Folder > SubFolder1 > SubFolder2

What i want to see:

Main Folder

But i want to search for subfolders in there. you understand? 😅
