Search and Filter a Gallery based on another gallery and update a popup based on gallery.selected

I have a screen that has two galleries sitting on it the one is to allow you to select different stations, the other displays the asset information for that station.  I have an icon that when clicked opens a popup and displays a form, all of this works great until I add search to the mix.

This is the original code

SortByColumns( Filter( '3 Phase Regulators', IsBlank(ComboBox1.Selected.Station) || (Station in ComboBox1.SelectedItems.Station) ), "Station", Ascending )

When I add this code

SortByColumns(
    Search(
        AddColumns(
            Filter(
                '3 Phase Regulators',
                IsBlank(ComboBox1.Selected.Station) || (Station in ComboBox1.SelectedItems.Station)
            ),
            "id2",
            Text(ID)
        ),
        TextInput6_1.Text,
        "Station",
        "Manufacturer",
        "Stencil",
        "id2"
    ),
    "Station",
    Ascending
)

It breaks the gallery4.select on the form

I don't know how to fix this.

Hi @Dorinda ,

That is because you have added a column, which is not present in the record you are referring to (I assume in a Form). Change the Item of the Form to

LookUp(
   ListName,
   ID = GalleryName.Selected.ID
)

SharePoint lookup columns return two properties, a Value and an ID. 'SharePointDocLibrary'.'lookupColumn'.Value gives you the text value of whatever the lookup column is set to, while 'SharePointDocLibrary'.'lookupColumn'.ID gives you the ID number of the value in the lookup column.

If you're trying to filter based on a lookup column, you might do something like this:

Filter(SharePointDocLibrary, varRecord.Subject = lookupColumn.Value)

This would return items from SharePointDocLibrary in which varRecord's subject column = the value of the lookup column.

In fact, I just did this last week in the following example:

powerUser1611_0-1645133700969.png

I set varShowRelatedSelectedItem by using the OnSelect property of my Gallery; Set(varShowRelatedSelectedItem, ThisItem). In the filter, I am comparing varShowRelatedSelectedItem.moduleLookup.Value to my collection's moduleLookup.Value to match up the value of the variable to the value of the collection. This returns all items from the collection which match the selected Gallery item.

@WarrenBelz thank you for your help and I do apologize for the confusion,  so your solution only partially fixed the issue.

I have gotten the other resolved sorta but the issue remains that I am still not able to see all of the item in the gallery when the lookup completes.

This is the code

LookUp(
   AssetPhotos,
   Substation.Value = Gallery4_2.Selected.Station && Asset_x0020_Class.Value = "Circuit Switcher"
)

However, there could be a one to many relationship between the station and the photos, so I am trying to figure out how to get all of the items that lets say pertain to "Burke", this is a Station, however regardless it is only returning 1 item instead of the 5 that should be listed.

Well that fixed one issue and introduced a few more along the way.

I have a column in SharePoint that is a Lookup to another list, but I dont know how to reference it when I filter, and now all of my Var are breaking.  What a day!

This would return items from SharePointDocLibrary in which varRecord's subject column = the value of the lookup column.

In the filter, I am comparing varShowRelatedSelectedItem.moduleLookup.Value to my collection's moduleLookup.Value to match up the value of the variable to the value of the collection. This returns all items from the collection which match the selected Gallery item.

Hi @Dorinda ,

Lookup columns will cause you a lot of unwanted grief (I have not used them for many years), but you should be able to filter on LookupColumnName.Value.

@powerUser1611

So I am getting this from the Icon inside my gallery

Dorinda_0-1645134997079.png

If I refresh and run onstart it goes away for second then comes back.

I think it has to do with me using a Lookup Column in SharePoint and not properly referencing in to set my variable, but how do i do that?

I am stuck

This error occurs when you try to set a variable with different types of data. If you set a variable as text, it must always be set as text; if it’s set as a record, it must always be set as a record with the same schema (columns).

Check every instance of how that variable gets defined and make sure you are setting it using the same syntax. When I had this problem, I tried to set the variable as ThisItem in one place, and gallery1.selected in another. You cannot set a single variable with both of these values. You can check all definitions of your variable by going to file>variables and selecting your variable.

@powerUser1611 so I guess the frustrating part of this is when I do not add the Search functionality to the code I do not have to manipulate anything my popups work, I have no errors, but by introducing Search now everything is broken where it used to work.

I dont understand why?
