Self.LastSubmit has stopped working across all my forms

I have 4 forms that are live and working and as of last week the following code has stopped working on all of them

This is the code i have on the OnSuccess property one of the form.

Set(varTicketID, "BV-00" & Self.LastSubmit.ID);
Patch('Billing Form', Self.LastSubmit, {Title: varTicketID};
Set(varsubmitted, true);
UpdateContext({varLastSubmit:Self.LastSubmit})

Tickets are being created but no ID value is being returned from the OnSuccess property.

Not sure what to do

I also tried changing the Self to the Form name but no good

Hi @johnnykalsi

With the formula that you posted, can you confirm if the record in your 'Billing Form' data source is updated? If so, is the title field updated with the value "BV-00" but without the last submitted ticket ID?

If the title field hasn't been updated at all, it might be that the call to Patch has failed rather than LastSubmit not working, which is very unusual.

If you run the Monitor tool, that might give you more insight into exactly what is failing.

Hi, the Title Field in SharePoint is being updated with correct ID example - BV-009

When i look @ Context Variables i see the last submission, but Title is Blank

When i look @ Global Variables the varTicketID is not being updated. It is default BV-00

There are no errors.

Hi @johnnykalsi

Can you please confirm this please, is your form connected to the Billing Form as datasouce for which your LastSubmit is holding the info?

Hi Yes, The billing Form is the data source.

I have LastSubmit on the OnSuccess property of the Billing Form.

@johnnykalsi ,

Then the patch which you are doing again to your Billing Form datasource it will overwrite the value of your Last Submit because it is the same data souce, what you need to do to fix is this

  1. Store the Self.LastSubmit value in a variable first
  2. then use that variable wherever you want so you will have a local copy of your Self.LastSubmitted and it won't be overwritten by your patch statement

Approach 2

  1. Do all the actions what you need to do before your patch statement
  2. this will make sure that you have a valid reference to your last submit property and then you can do the patch at the very last of your code because this will erase that reference from it

let me know how you get on

I'm doing Patch just once on the OnSuccess property of the Form Submission

After I get the lastsubmit ID and setting it as variable varTicketID

Set(varTicketID, "BV-00" & Self.LastSubmit.ID);
Patch('Billing Form', Self.LastSubmit, {Title: varTicketID};

Its a pretty straight forward and simple set of actions that was working on all of my forms for months. Just stopped working on all 4 diff forms.

I deleted the OnSuccess property rules ...saved the form...close the browser and deleted all cookies..

Reopened it and pasted the rules back into the Onsuccess property and it worked on 1 form

I'll do it same thing on all others too to see if it fixes the issue

Very Weird

@johnnykalsi

Great! This set of actions will work fine.

Root Cause - So what we need to understand is the order in which you are writing the code, if you are doing a patch on the same datasouce as your form from where you LastSubmit is coming from you will loose the LastSubmit reference but if you can avoid that just like you did below this won't erase your reference and you will be able to refer the LastSubmit without any issues

Set(varTicketID, "BV-00" & Self.LastSubmit.ID);
Patch('Billing Form', Self.LastSubmit, {Title: varTicketID};

Hope this make things a lil clear for you

Hi @johnnykalsi

This is very strange. Deleting and re-adding the formula would almost suggest that there's something corrupt in the app or form.

With regards to the title being updated in the context variable, you might consider the below. The return value from Patch will return the updated value so this will ensure that the context variable is completely up to date.

Set(varTicketID, "BV-00" & Self.LastSubmit.ID);
Set(varsubmitted, true);
UpdateContext(
   {varLastSubmit: Patch('Billing Form', Self.LastSubmit, {Title: varTicketID}}
)
