Send an email to addresses (2) which are selected from in 2 different People/Group fields in form

Hi

New to PowerApps need some help 😞

I have a working app which fills in a sharepoint list.

What i would like to do is send a copy of the form to email addresses which are selected with People/Groups when the form is submitted.

heres my submit formula - onSelect =SubmitForm(Form1);NewForm(Form1);Navigate(Success,ScreenTransition.Fade)

but i just don't understand the formula's 😞

From reading here and other places i see that i may have to use Office365.SendEmail()  but as i said i dont know how to implement it using the 2 People/Group fields.

Annoying part is i could do it using MS Forms and Flow easily but my PowerApp replacing that function

Any help i would be grateful

Gary

Hi @gazzo1967 ,

Maybe my describtion is not clear, the label I used is to show or get the datacard's selected emails, I test with one Person type(allow multiples) as my attachment1; And  do you allow mutiples of your Person column?Could you please share more details of your SP list?

Then you jsut add one label control in your screen and rename it as Label_testthedatacardselectemails,

Label_testthedatacardselectemails.Text:Concat(DataCardValue12.SelectedItems.Email,Email &",")

On your side:Label_testthedatacardselectemails.Text:Concat(DataCardValue8.SelectedItems.Email,Email &",")   (Label_testthedatacardselectemails is the label's name you add in the screen, you can change the name what you want)

On my second attachment my form name is Form3, your Form name is Form1,so your Submit Button.OnSelect:Submit(Form1);Office365.SendEmail(Label_testthedatacardselectemails.Text,"send from app","hello")  ("send from app","hello" is the subject and body of the email to test, you can change it what you want)

Hope this could be helpful.

Best Regards.

Yumia

Hi @gazzo1967 ,

The NewForm function changes the Form control's mode to FormMode.New.

Use the SubmitForm function in the OnSelect property of a Button control to save any changes in a Form control to the data source.

You can use Navigate to create or update context variables of the new screen.

More information about Form function and Navigate:

function-form

function-navigate

If you want to send email to the person what you selected by your form's datacard, you can try the following workaround, I test as next:

Firstly,  you should create a connection to Office 365 Outlook and add it as a data source within your PowerApps app firstly.

Then add one label,label3.text:DataCardValue2.Selected.Email , the submit formula - onSelect =SubmitForm(Form1);SubmitForm(Form1);Office365.SendEmail(Label3.Text,"Send email from PowerApps","Item: hello")

Hope this could be helpful.

Hi @v-yuxima-msft

just to clarifySmiley Happy

I change the DataCardValue8 label to

label3.text,DataCardValue8.Selected.Email

Then the submit formula

onSelect =SubmitForm(Form1);SubmitForm(Form1);Office365.SendEmail(Label3.Text,"Send email from PowerApps","Item: hello")

i applied this and get this runtime error

Capture44.JPG

And just a couple questions

What is the item:hello in the formula?

How do i format the email sent?

I really appreciate your helpMan Happy

Gary

SubmitForm(Form1);NewForm(Form1);Navigate(Success,ScreenTransition.Fade)

Hi @gazzo1967 ,

First of all,"Item: hello"  is just used to test, it is the email's content, you can change it what you want.

More information:

connection-office365-outlook

Secondly,onSelect =SubmitForm(Form1);SubmitForm(Form1);Office365.SendEmail(Label3.Text,"Send email from PowerApps","Item: hello")  (just one submitForm(Form1) is oK)

Then:And your Person column type in your SP list is allow multiple or not?

Could you please show the screenshot of your SP list column type and your app's   screenshot ?

Best Regards.

Hi @gazzo1967 ,

Do you add one O365 outlook connection (View->Data Sources->Data)firstly?

Could you please reference my reply for  this case?

Hi @v-yuxima-msft

i think i may have 'cracked the nut' Man Surprised

I tried a new approach on a new form

i used an idea which i worked out between your direction and a workaround described by Shane Young in this Youtube video

i added a text label which was populated by the combobox (which actually serves my purpose better) then i used the following formula

OnSuccess = Office365.SendEmail(emailladdy,"Test","Form2")

when the form was submitted it sent me the email... but also would not send unless all fields completed (as set up in sharepoint)

I really want to than you for your help and support*and patience).

Your direction has helped me understand a little more of the logic of the formula's for that i'm grateful

I will mark this as solved and quuite rightly so give you the kudos Man Very Happy

Thank You

GarySmiley Very Happy
