Send images to Sharepoint in a created folder

Hi everybody,

I recently discovered Power Apps and Power Automation, it seems to be powerful tools to work with the Microsoft Suite, but it needs some practice to understand all the things.

I currently working with a team who needs to send photos and videos they capture on their work site, but they are really not "connected people" and navigate throught Sharepoint, create a folder then import content is a real pain for them. This is how I discovered Power Apps and Power Automation, by trying to find a solution.

I tried to make my own mobile app with 1 text entry (for the folder name), an AttachmentControl (to upload multiple files - I found this on many YT videos but not sure that this is a good solution) and a button. What I would like to make is that when the button is pressed, a folder with the name insered in the text entry is created in a specific Sharepoint Site, then upload in this created folder all the images/videos imported in the AttachmentControl. The goal is to have one folder at the project name with the associated content.

Create a folder by pressing the button with the name entered is easy to do, but where I'm stuck is to enter in this folder once it as been created then upload the files.

Do you know if this is possible ? Should I create 2 flows, one for the folder creation and one for the import ? Or it's possible (or not) to do it with only one flow ? Or if you have any easier solution I'll take it !

Thanks for your help

Hi @Timo35,

I did something similar. But in my case I had to create the folder first because it was required for the way the app was working.
If I were you I would do it with two automates, both in the same button. You can run the 'Create folder' one first, wait for a response to make sure it's finished, and then you can run a second one to upload the files.

I recommend you watch this video, it explains how to create an automate to attach the files:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QaiM8SeWfM

In your case, you'll have the folder already created, so you can dynamically refer your folder name in the path.

I hope this helps!

Mink

Hello @Mink21 and thanks for your answer.

This is one of the solutions I was considering. For the video I tried to do exactly the same thing as the author, but when I have set a variable on the button

Spoiler
Set(varDemoFromAttachmentControl, JSON(Last(AttachmentControl.Attachments).Value, JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData))

I get red line error on the first "(" and on the first "," as in the spoiler tag, and I don't understand from where the problem is coming from... Do you have any idea for why it's doing this ?

Thanks

I copied this exact same code in a button and I didn't have any errors.

Have you checked if you ended the previous sentences in your code with ';'?

Yeah I don't have any ";" at the end, only what I wrote before, that's so weird...

I'll try to recreate a new app, maybe it will work this time ?

Can you show me all the code you have there?

I just tried again from blank canevas but it's still the same, even if I try a basic variable declaration like "Set(varTest, 1)" I also have red lines. In the App Checker it says that there is unexpected caracters and invalid arguments number, 1 was waited, 2 were expected.

How can I show u all the code ? You mean the entire app code ?

I meant the code that was giving you the error.

What do you have before and after this code?
Set(varDemoFromAttachmentControl, JSON(Last(AttachmentControl.Attachments).Value,JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData))

Can you copy it here?

Also, are you using a computer in English?

I have nothing before and after this code, OnSelect is the only edited property with "Set(varDemoFromAttachmentControl, JSON(Last(AttachmentControl.Attachments).Value,JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData))" value.

Unfortunatly my Microsoft Suite is in French, I searched to change it in English but nothing found.
