Send populated form via Email

Hi everyone!

I feel horrible that I keep posting questions here.  I have one last step in finalizing the form I am creating (thanks to everyone's help).  Here's my question.  I have attached a screenshot of my form, and want the populated form information to be sent via email so the person receiving the email can use this information to update another system.  I have watched videos (some which have lost me :)) and have tried the following formula: SubmitForm(Form);Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2("abc@XXXXXXXX.com","Request Form","Please upload") when the button is clicked, but nothing is happening.

An added bonus would be that when the form information is sent, the form is cleared for the next person to enter information.  Is this possible?

Thank you so much again everyone for all of your help,

Brian

Don't worry, Brian. All is not lost. You can package up the entire screen as a PDF and email it.

Go to Settings and turn on the PDF feature:

Now put this code in your button:

Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
    "joe@example.com", // Who you want the email sent to
    "Request Form", // Subject
    "Please upload", // Body of the email
    {
        Attachments: Table(
            {
                Name: "My File.pdf",
                ContentBytes: PDF(NAMEOFSCREEN)
            }
        )
    }
)

Make sure you change the email address and 'NAMEOFSCREEN' to the name of your screen in Power Apps.

This might be a silly question, but are you sure your email address is correct and the email is not getting caught by a spam filter or firewall?

Secondly, you can use the monitor tool in Power Apps to debug what's happening. Go to 'Advanced Tools' on the left-hand side and 'Open monitor'. Then play your app and click on the button to send the email. In the monitor tab you will be able to dig into the details to see what's happening. Here's an example:

And yes, you can reset your form by using the following:

ResetForm(Form);

Hi Charles!

Thank you so much for the guidance.  I checked and the email is good and the error is showing "The function expects an editable form as its input.  Location Button1.OnSelect".  I have the Send email formula in this area.  Should I move the formula?  Also where would I put the RestForm(Form) formula?

Thank you so much for your help.

Brian

Is your form control definitely called 'Form'? For example, the form in my test is called 'Form1':

charlessexton_0-1682530708175.png

The reset would be added like so:

SubmitForm(Form);Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2("abc@XXXXXXXX.com","Request Form","Please upload"); ResetForm(Form);

Hi Charles!  I went through and the only form I have on the app is titled "Form".  I changed the name to "SubmissionForm" just to see if that was a problem, but still showing the same error.  Do I need to add another form?

Would you be able to provide a screenshot showing the code in your button and all of your controls showing on the left-hand side? I think that will help in trying to figure out where the issue is.

Hi again Charles.

Thanks for your help with this.  Below is the code for the button

I have attached a document for the left-hand side screen shot.  Don't make fun of all of my labels 🙂 - just beginning to use PowerApps and I know I have an extremely long way to go.

So, the issue is that you have created lots of text inputs and dropdowns, but none of them are inside a form control. You don't have a form control.

Are you attempting to save the entered information anywhere, or simply to email it all?

Hi Charles.  I kind of figured that was the problem after I seen your screen shot.  I just want to simply email all the information since the sender would be able to keep a copy of the email and we do not have any need to keep a historical record on another list.

Don't worry, Brian. All is not lost. You can package up the entire screen as a PDF and email it.

Go to Settings and turn on the PDF feature:

                ContentBytes: PDF(NAMEOFSCREEN)
            }
        )
    }
)

Make sure you change the email address and 'NAMEOFSCREEN' to the name of your screen in Power Apps.
