SharePointIntegrated App, Form not triggering Gallery to filter appropriately at app opening

Hi All, 

Tiny bit complicated but would love some help. 

SharePointIntergrated App, the form hide/show of fields is based on a string (based in a second list and displayed via a gallery) that is filtered by a field in the form.

Example: DC_Event = "Show All" and this will then Filter the Gallery for Filter(EventMatrix,DC_Event.Selected.Result in Title)

and Provide a single string "IdentifiersAccessBookingDelay" etc

Fields then show/hide if they find their trigger word within this string. 

My issue is that the gallery does not retain its selection, the gallery starts out blank on start even though the field has content in the form, and to trigger it I need to select the event again. This kind of breaks the purpose of the whole thing.

Is there a way to get the gallery to retain its filtered option - or to not have the manually trigger it secondarily?

I'm not sure if I understand your needs correctly, please help me point out if there are any errors:

• When you open the custom form for the second time(or third……), OnStart or OnVisible event does not trigged.

   If so,it is normal.I have tested it many times, and the result is: when the user clicks to close the custom form in SharePoint, the custom form is only hidden from the user, but not really closed. For this reason, when the user opens it for the first time, we can see the loading screen of the canvas app. When you open it the second and third time, the app does not need to be loaded.

   Therefore, my solution is to use a timer to execute the OnStart event continuously and without interruption.For example:

Add a timer control and set it's

Duration

1000 /*Execute every second*/

AutoStart

true /*Start automatically*/

Repeat

true /*Automatic loop*/

OnTimerEnd

Your OnStart Event

In this way, the timer will execute your OnStart Event once per second.

Thank you for your insights, I have implemented this idea but my onTimerEnd is not setting the variable, am I doing something incorrect?

Duration: 1000

Autostart: true

Repeat: If(IsBlank(Lbl_EventString),true,false) (VarString lives in Lbl_EventString)

OnTimerEnd: Set(VarString,LookUp(EventMatrix,DC_Event.Selected.Result = Event,'Event String'))

After exploring, I changed the gallery to be a lookup because we only needed one field to be utilised from the second list.

Please set the Repeat property to

true

Because once the timer expires, you may have to manually click it to start.

The timer was repeating successfully and stopped when the field was not blank, it's not the repeat. The problem is the variable was not setting its content. 

I don't think I explained myself clearly enough. The issue was that the field content being used to force the hide shows function wasn't picking up at the start of the app. I had it directly going from a field, which doesn't technically exist when the form loads until the last stages which in turn didn't trigger the string, which then didn't trigger the hide show etc etc. 

To get around this I set a Label in the form to:
If(FormMode=New Or IsBlank(ThisItem.Event.Value), DC_Event.Selected.Result,ThisItem.Event.Value)

and the String to refer to it:

LookUp(EventMatrix,Lbl_Event.Text = Event,'Event String')

every field then referred to this string field for the contains showing. Example:

"AccessMet" in Lbl_EventString.Text
