Sharepoint Forms Integration Caching or Startup Issue

I'm trying to use the PowerApps integration with SharePoint to replace the SharePoint item form and running into a strange problem. It isn't regularly showing the correct item when I click on it from SharePoint. I thought I had a race condition issue, but now I think it has to do more with the way PowerApps is caching the state.

Let me explain what I'm trying to do and my current test setup where I've narrowed down the problem.

By default, the "Item" property for the SharePoint form is set to

I need to reference the item being worked on in the form and couldn't figure out a way to do that directly, and you can't use "Set" inside a non-action property, so I set the "Item" property to variable "ItemRecord" and have tried setting ItemRecord in multiple places to get it to update properly. None of the OnStart/Visible/etc. properties seem to be triggering on subsequent clicks in new Sharepoint list items. Just figuring out a way to reference the form item may not solve all my problems because I have to run some other things when the page launches. So really I need to figure out why it is caching the current state and not launching the application again or some other way to run a set of functions when "another" sharepoint item is clicked.

To further debug I created a Startup screen with a button that just sets the variable and then redirects to the Form screen. The first time I click on the SharePoint item it shows the Startup screen properly, but subsequent times it goes directly to the Form screen so there is no chance to click the button and set the variables correctly. Have a look at the screenshots.

Trying to set Variables at App OnStart or screen OnVisible in an integrated app will cause you exactly the issues you are experiencing as unless you refresh SharePoint (refresh the browser tab), it does not seem to run these, preferring performance - the only variable value that refreshes is the SharePointIntegration.Selected record, so unless you refer directly to that (as the system is actually designed to do), you will continue to have this problem.
