Sharepoint List - PowerApp Lookup value

Hi I'm having trouble getting a lookup value in Powerapps to update the SharePoint List.

I have two SharePoint lists as follows;

1) Document

2) Vendors

I have customised the Sharepoint input form using PowerApps and have a datacard called Country_DataCard1 this allows the selection of a country from the Sharepoint Choice Column called Country, my second DataCard is called Company Name_DataCard1 and this looks up the Country within Country_DataCard1 from the Vendor SharePoint list and returns a list of items I can pick from.

This all works as expected and all columns get updated in the Document SharePoint list apart from the Company Name column that reverts to the first item in the list within Company Name_DataCard1

Reading up on this I'm guessing its the Update field in Company Name_DataCard1 that I'm not setting correctly.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

If your list is getting updated properly, then there is no issue with your Update property.

The issue is going to come to how you are setting the default property of the control.

First - is this a Combobox you are working with or a Dropdown?

If it is a Dropdown, what is the Default property of the control?

If it is a Combobox, what is the DefaultSelectedItems property of the control?

And, what is the Items property of the control?

Its a Dropdown and the Default Property is ThisItem.'Company Name'

The Item Property is Filter(Vendors, Title = DataCardValue1.Selected.Value)

So to be clear:

- Your underlying field is a Text column

- Your dropdown is displaying the company names and one should be matching what is stored in the record.

Please clarify and correct anything wrong above.

Your formula is a filter that is based on another dropdown.  So, before we explore any issues on that one, does the Name of the company that you expect to be selected appear in the dropdown, or is it missing to select?

Hi Randy,

So the Field on the Vendor SharePoint list is a Text Column, and the dropdown filters to show the correct vendors based on the selected country.

I found out why the SharePoint list always listed the first vendor in the list - this was the defaulted value in SharePoint, I have removed this so its now blank, when I add a new record all fields transfer from the input form correctly apart from Vendor which now remains blank, if I try to edit an existing record I can select the vendor name but when saving the vendor name does not update.

I changed the Default value to;

{'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",

Id:a.ID,

Value:a.Vendor}
