Sharing Dashboard Created in Canvas App

Hello All,

I have posted a few questions about the App I am creating(Thanks for the help from anyone who has responded), and I am almost done. The final part is to email a link to the specific record on the dashboard to the user in our organization who created it.

A little background because it was kind of hard to describe what I am looking for above.  I created a New Employee App for our Organization.  It will be available to all supervisors or anyone who has access to a computer and our SharePoint site(Although the program has nothing to do with SharePoint).  They fill out the information on a Canvas App, and when they save it, I save their Email address along with the rest of the record in a Dataverse table.

When a new entry is save to the table, it triggers a flow that emails the person who saved the record with a generic email saying their record has been added. What I would like to do is include a link to the dashboard where they can view that record. One request about this app is my manager does not want departments to be able to look at records submitted by other departments, only the one specific record they just summited.  So what I want to do is 'Construct' a link to that one exact record and share it with it's creator. I found this article that explains how to incorporate your App Id(Dashboard App ID) into the URL, so I can provide a link to all records, but how do I get the unique number that points to one specific record(attached and highlighted in red)-

Thank you very much!

Kevin

Oh, you said "Shane Young has you covered". I thought you were referring to yourself in third person, meaning I thought that was you. Thanks for the help though, I will look into it a bit more later tonight.

Thanks Again!

@unislacker , thanks for the link, that was good information to know, but I am not sure it will help me in my situation(unless I am missing something, which is probably true!). I have an Employee Dashboard I have created that is separate from the Canvas App.  I want to be able to send that link, which is a Dynamics 365 page.

I created 2 entries, as shown in the image below, and the Employee ID's are very different for each. I want to get that value, the 1st in yellow and the next in green. Everything else is the same, so I can just save that address in a field in the Dataverse table, but I want to try to get the last part of the address so employees can browse to that one specific record in the Dashboard. Is that part even known by the Canvas App at the time of Entry?

Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions and keep me posted of any other ideas!

I can browse to the Dashboard and select 'Email Link' or 'Share', but I want it to be automated and only capable of viewing that one specific entry being displayed to each person the Flow send it to.

Here is what I get when I click 'Email Link', now I just want that value to automatically send to co-workers.

Hey so what I did was used deep link to pass the id of the row i wanted to look at and then on entry into the app I had two variables.

1 to signify the action to navigate

2 so pick up the ID of the record I wanted to see

but additionally i created a screen specifically for the viewing of the record.

in my case we send an email to a risk in a  risk register and then the user pens the link and it takes them direct to a view only version of the risk.

Thanks @unislacker for all your help. I just want to clarify a few questions I had about your approach. You said- "But additionally I create a screen speciffically for the viewing of the record.". This is all in your Canvas App correct?  You are never using a Dashboard in any step of this process?

I might have to do the same to the record creator, and then after the fact, send a link to IT and HR, along with the original creator once I know the address of that specific record on the Dashboard so they can see the status of the new employee and all the resources they need on the Dashboard. Remember as resources are fullfilled, I expect IT and HR to be filling in those addition fields on the Dashboard.

Thanks a lot for all your suggestions, i'll keep you posted on what I end up doing.

Thanks,

Kevin

oh yes we only use the power app as the dashboard, I missed that from your initial overview. But hope you find a solution.
