Hi,
I have created an app with the wizard based on Contact entity of my Common Data Model. It works fine with my account, I can see, create and modify the records.
I shared it with an other account of my organisation. The other account can see and run the app itself but can not see any data, can not create new record. The content of the BrowseGalery1 is empty on the BrowseScreen1. When I try to create new record and press checkmark to save the new record, the form become empty and nothing happens. I tried it from IE, Chrome and Opera. The result is the same.
Any idea?
Thanks,
Szabolcs

Hi Szabolcs,
Please make sure your Common Data Model connection on your Shared account is properly connected.
I created an App based on a CDM entity, then I shared the App with another account in my organization. I can edit the App and submit data to data source on my own account, but on the shared account, I got the same issue with you, there was no data shown on the BrwoseScreen1 and new records can’t be created.
So I checked the CDM connection on the shared account, and I was asked to update password. After I updated password, the shared App worked well and I can edit the App and submit data to data source both on Web player and PowerApps studio.
Please check the connection of CDM on your shared account, if you are also asked to update password, please update it to see if it works for you.
Best regards,
Mabel Mao
Hi Mabel Mao,
After my previous post. I tried something based on your idea. Although there was no error message on my Shared account's connection, I deleted the connection itself and recreated again. With the newly created connection the app worked.
After it we did some test with my collagues' accounts. In some cases there were no problem and app worked at the first time. In some cases we faced the same issue you wrote, there was error message on connection and update password solved the problem.
So, the resolution is:
1, Check the connection. If it has an error message update the password.
2, If the connection looks OK, but app does not work delete the connection and recreate it.
Thanks for your help.
Hi
https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/share-app/
The link above can explain how to share an apps.
Please specify one of these permission levels:
- Can use: Users or groups can run the app but not share it.
- Can use and share: Users or groups can run and share the app.
- Can edit: Users or groups can run the app, customize it, and share the customized version.
When you share an app, a message notifies the user or users that you specified and contains a link with which they can access the app. If appropriate, users are prompted to sign up for and install PowerApps.
If you are sharing:
- CDM - the entities and data will be shared automatically
- Excel (from Cloud) - needs to be shared.
Hope this helps.
Hi hpkeong,
Thanks for your answer.
I watched the video and read this post before my first sharing and I tried all of the permission levels, but there was no difference, nothing worked with the other account. As I understood the CDM entity sharing is an automatic process, but looks something is wrong about it.
Hi
Another clearer link..https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/data-platform-share-app/
In this release of the Common Data Model, you can't share an app with an entire organization if the app uses one or more entities.
- It means, please share by enter the email of your colleagues, witht same domain.
Hope it helps again.

Hi hpkeong,
I have shared my app with the account vie email address. If my app uses CDM I cannot share with organization, this option is grayed out.
Szabolcs
Hi Mabel Mao,
Thanks for your reply.
I checked the connection on both account's page and each one looks ok. To make sure I clicked on the key icon to renew the password. Nothing changed.
When I checking the connections on the shared account's page I see just one connenction with the name 'Common Data Model' but the owner of this connection is the Shared account, not my own account, so I think it is a different connection.
Can you see the shared CDM connection (owned by your own account) on the Shared account's page?
Regards,
Szabolcs
Hi
As fas as I know (because I have 2 work mail (A & B), with same @domain), so I used to:
- Create app in work mail A, with CDM
- shared via work mail B..and when B sign-in, he can use without problem.
- You are right that organization sharing is grey out as it is not allowed at the moment. Reason: unknown but maybe available in the update as told in MS Ignite 2016.
hope my sharing of persona experience help!
