I have an app built on a SharePoint list. The list has a multi-select choice column that I use in my app to determine the type of change. The change types are:
Name/Address
Phone Number
Email Address
Payment Terms
Other
Each change type has different fields that need to be filled in. If I have to make a change to the phone number and the email address, I want to select both and show both the Phone Number field and the Email Address field while hiding the rest and so on. When any single change type or combination of change types are selected, all the relevant fields must be displayed while hiding the rest.
I can create an expression that will show/hide fields based on single select, but not for multi-select. It only shows the fields for the last choice selected. I have tried with no success:
If(
(((((DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Name/Address") || DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Phone Number" && DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Name/Address") || DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Email Address" && DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Phone Number" && DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Name/Address") || DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Payment Terms" && "Email Address" && DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Phone Number" && DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Name/Address") || DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Other" && "Payment Terms" && "Email Address" && DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Phone Number" && DataCardValue27.Selected.Value = "Name/Address"),
true,
false
)
and
"Name/Address" in DataCardValue27.SelectedItems
I have found many articles that don't fully address my issue. I found an article that suggested using a Combo Box. I know how to create a combo box on the app side and patch the selected values to SharePoint. Is there any way to achieve what I want or do I have to recreate the field as a combo box? I tried using a combo box, but still could not make the logic work. How do I proceed?
Hi @This-n-That,
Let’s create a solution that dynamically shows or hides fields based on the multi-select choice column in your PowerApps app. We’ll use a combination of controls and formulas to achieve this. Here’s how you can proceed:
Create a Collection for Change Types:
Start by creating a collection that holds the change types (Name/Address, Phone Number, Email Address, Payment Terms, Other).
You can do this in the OnStart property of your app: You can also create a collection from SharePoint list (for dynamic data)
ClearCollect(
colChangeTypes,
{ Type: "Name/Address" },
{ Type: "Phone Number" },
{ Type: "Email Address" },
{ Type: "Payment Terms" },
{ Type: "Other" }
)
Use a Combo Box for Change Types:
Add a combo box control to your app.
Set its Items property to colChangeTypes.
Create a Gallery for Selected Change Types:
Add a vertical gallery control to your app.
Set its Items property to DataCardValue27.SelectedItems.
Design the Gallery:
Inside the gallery, add labels or other controls for each selected change type.
For each label, set the Text property to the corresponding change type (e.g., ThisItem.Type).
Show/Hide Fields Based on Selections:
For each field (Phone Number, Email Address, etc.), set the Visible property based on the selected change types.
Example for Phone Number field:
Visible: "Phone Number" in DataCardValue27.SelectedItems.Type
Adjust Logic for Other Fields:
Repeat step 5 for other fields, adjusting the field names and conditions accordingly.
Testing and Refinement:
Test your app by selecting different change types and verifying that the relevant fields appear or disappear as expected.
Refine the design and logic as needed.
Remember that using a combo box simplifies the selection process, and you can easily manage the selected change types.

Hi @This-n-That,
Is it helped you to solve your problem?
If yes, kindly accept it as solution, this will help others and it also closes the item. Thank you.
I can't set the gallery Items property to DataCardValue27.SelectedItems. If I am understanding this process correctly, I would have all of my fields in a gallery instead of in my form? Is that correct?
