Simple daily push notification

I'm trying to develop a timesheet app for my staff and would like to add a simple push notification at the end of each working day (mon-fri) as a reminder to log work hours.

I have added the app id as a powerapps connection and have added it as a data source in the BrowseScreen following this.

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/add-push-notification-to-you-app-and-boost-usage-and-rete...

But this then gets more complicated than I need, and while this article indicates in its contents that it covers if 'You want to engage your users on a specific interval' https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/add-notifications it does not actually give any advice about this in the content.

Can anyone point me to any instructions as to how to set a daily push notification at a set time?

Many thanks

Stuart

You asked for a way to push notification to your users. You have to have the list of users to be notified defined somewhere - either part of a group or a specific list or any other collection (you may create a sharepoint list and add items with the email address of each user connecting to your app, or an excel file or etc)
In recipient you just place the email address of the user to receive the notification - if there are more users like in my ex. just add an each block and pass the email address from the current iteration

I wouldn’t do it with badge. Difficult to control the figures it shows etc
I would send another notification (or in the daily one) a text which is dynamically composed. Or may be a daily email just to be sure you reach the users either ways?

With the email it’s easier to summarize the recorded data so far and you also can provide a direct link to the app. For us it peoved to be far more efficient. Good luck!

This is the way we did it

1. Set a trigger as a reccurence

2. select the target group (in our case it was a 365 Group) and foreach push the notification

Don't forget to connect to the application in SendPushNotification step.

@bdoduthank you for your reply. Could you expand a little on how to do this. I have no experience of Powerapps or Flow.

Many thanks

Stuart

I was talking about the Microsoft Flow in my reply - so basically what you need is only a flow with a link to your app

Therefore:

1. Create from blank a new Flow by searching "hundreds of connectors and triggers"

2. Choose the trigger Schedule - Recurrence

3. Set data as in my first picture (according to your needs)

4. Add a new action step and follow my second picture

5. Add the foreach and then inside the powerapps notification

6. Set the Connection Name and App ID

Play a little bit and let me know

@bdodu

Not sure what I need to put in the 'recipient's item', I'm just building a template at the moment....

Was planning on duplicating the app, one for each team member, we only have 8 people using it

Its connected to an Excel sheet in OneDrive, so will have one table per staff member

@bdodu working! Thank you so much for persisting with me.. one last thing, any way to get an app notification badge/dot on the app icon. That annoying number that makes you open the app to get rid of it. Want staff to see how many days they have not logged hours for at a glance...

Hi,

I have a list of tasks assigned to specific people from excel. I want people to get notified 1 day and 1 week before the due date for task and when they click on the notification they should be navigated to detail page of that task. How can I do that?

Thanks,
