Snap to columns makes field got outside screen

Hi,

I'm using snap to columns in modern form - it seems that when used my input fields go outside of screen. This does not happen when I use Parent.Width - parent width always makes field end shortly before screen border where after switching snap to columns to true - fields goes beyond screen.

Any idea why?

Hi @DariuszSzwabo What is the width of the control? Can you try to make the width of affected control to same as the 2nd control?

you’ll need to change your data cards’ width property to Parent.Width / 4 (depends on your number of columns property) or have the pixel width hard-coded. Unfortunately, you cannot reference the selected number of columns dynamically.

You can reference number of columns dynamically using ActiveScreen.Size https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/new-properties-for-responsive-canvas-apps/ and this can be done easily,

I was rather asking if anyone knows how to use 'Snap to Columns' correctly so that field does not go outside of screen. If I set number of fields to 1, with 'Snap to columns' it stills goes beyond screen.

My point is that I want to use snap to columns - If I wanted to adjust width - that would be opposite to using snap to columns

Hi @DariuszSzwabo , I understand but the issue that you are facing is related to control which is within the datacard. Example:

In my below screenshot, I have form named as form3.

It has 4 datacard. If the snap to column is set to yes, it will automatically resize as per the App.ActiveScreen.Size. PFB screenshot which explain the difference between:

Now the issue that you are facing is not related to datacard but it is related to child control of datacard as shown in below screenshot: In below screenshot DataCardValue5 is child control of datacard Title_DataCard2. And if I try to compare this with your issue, then the issue is with DataCardValue5 width.

You will notice that the width of this control will always be Parent.Width-60, if you use the form without doing any customization.

So, there might be possibility that the width of DataCardValue5  control might have got changed in your case and I personally cant give you root cause of it. However as solution, either you can have the control width set to same as the 2nd control in other data card or delete the form and add new form if there is no major work done on the form.
