Source Contacts - PowerApp - making a filtered selection resulting in blank screen and errors

Hello All,

I am new to PowerApps, and am trying to 'build' an app based on our SourceContacts.  I used the function in SourceContacts to export to PowerApps.  That version had limited functionality for us (we're a lumber yard with a long list of contacts and associated contact info).  I watched several tutorials and was able to change the search bar to a filter bar.  I've almost gotten everything I need out of that.

However, now when I select a contact, the 'Detail' screen, when using the app, comes back blank.  When I am editing, it shows up as below.  

If anyone has any way to help me overcome this obstacle, it would be greatly appreciated.  I'd be happy to go into more detail/better explanation, if needed.

Hi, Can you share the first screen where you select the contact and that then directs you to the second screen? If you could include the piece of code you have in it that would be great to help me understand what's amiss

Below is the previous screen.  In the formula screen you'll see how I've set up the filter function.

If I click on "Bryan Weeks" when I play the app, I get the blank screen at the very bottom and the notification "No item to display".

there's a property on the Gallery called "OnSelect" this is the code that will trigger a specific action when you select anything in your gallery. What code do you have in there?

In OnSelect put this Navigate(DetailScreen1, None, {SelectedID: ThisItem})

Then on Detail Screen under Item just write "SelectedID"

If it's not too much trouble, can i ask one more question...

I am having a similar issue when I try to Edit from 'DetailScreen1'.  When i click the edit icon, i go to EditForm1, which is  has 'Item' set to "BrowseGaller1.Selected".   I tried to use a similar function like you'd given me for the detail screen, but i am missing something because it won't accept it as a solution...

Apologies for the delay, timezones and all...So what you've done on your first question was creating a variable for your Selection. 

You pretty much need to inform the next page that there is something from the previous page to be called and that's what you've done on the previous step for the previous page, you created a Variable that you have named SelectID.

Now you're going for yet another page, so you will have to do something similar, but this time renaming the variable you've created before, while navigating to your new screen. So you have to put the following code on the OnSelect of the Edit Icon:

Navigate( 'EditScreen1', None, {EditSelectID: SelectedID})

This is what you're saying to your app: "Hey App! I want to navigate to EditScreen1, with no transition necessary(this is the none there in between), and by the way let Edit Screen know, I'm bringing a link with me from the previous page so I can talk to it!(this is the variable)"

Then on the Form in EditScreen1 under Item you will have to put EditSelectID
