Spliting questions in 3 screens!

Hello,

I am trying to have an normal app, but when people use it, they have to do 3 separate screens! The data is all on the same Sharepoint list, but i wanna split that data into  3 screens! I was trying to do that, by simple copy the screen and add diferent datas, but after a while, i noticed that only the last data (Last screen) would be sent, while the others would be just blank!

So i had a 3/4 of the answers blanked, and the last one, answered!

Any help?

HI

From your screens, I would suggest:

1. Screen1 - After completion, click on "Check" (or rather change to "Proceed to Next Screen" button with simply a Navigate(Screen2, Fade)

2. Screen 2 - After completion, same as above, Navigate(Screen3, Fade)

3. Screen 3 ; After completion, the "Check" shall be written as:

Patch(DataSource, Defaults(DataSource), {Begin: Rating1.Value, Mid: Rating2.Value, End: Rating3.Value, ......, Best_Part: Dropdown1.Selected.Result, Why: Dropdown2.Selected.Result,....., Expo: Rating10.Value, ...., WhyLike: Dropdown10.Selected.Result}); Navigate(thescreenyouwishtogoto, fade)

Begin (e.g. only) : Name of the Field/Title in your table.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Hi

Are you using FORMS? or Just create all your entries?

If you are using FORMS, in the last screen: Submit (EditForm1); Submit(EditForm2); Submit (EditForm3)  {assuming that Screen 1 has EditForm1, Screen2 has EditForm2, Screen3 has EditForm3)

But you are inserting

- Rating

- Dropdowns

manually,

then use PATCH (Teste, Defaults(Teste), {all the fields from Screen 1 ~ Screen 3}).

Hi,

What function are you using to submit the data from the 3 screens to your sharepoint list? I presume you will have a submit button what is the OnSelect property of this?

Regards

Scott

Hi @SChappell2580,

In the first two screens, i only put Navigate(Screen1_1,None) and Navigate(Screen1_2,None) respectivaly, and in the last screen i submit the form

It's Navigate(Screen4,None); SubmitForm(EditForm1_2)

Being the screen4, a screen to people see that their answer is being send!

EDIT: The OnSuccess is Navigate(Screen6,None) and it's on all of them! I tried with only one but it does not work..

Just to try understand better what you are trying to acheive are you saying you have 3 questions over 3 screens and you would like the user to answer each question on each screen and have each answer saved back to a sharepoint list when they click the submit button?

Yeah, exactly like that, but with more questions of course!

The following link should help you acheive what you are wanting: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/function-patch/

I would suggest using the Patch function to save multiple controls over multiple screens back to your sharepoint list.

If you need any further help please do ask

Thanks

Scott

Hi there,

I have tried patching in the past (Not for this problem), and it was very confusing, that article that you send, doesn't engage very much with begginners!

But i do ask, if you could give me an hand, and tell me where do i use the fuction patch, and how do i patch things?

Like, use this on the question, or in the editform in general? Or in the button send? and what really should i do? Does this patch fuction supports choices column and currency (rating mode)!

Sorry for all of this questions, it's still i am a begginer!

Ok no problem

Ok so what we can use patch for is to basically tell our app that we want to save a new record to sharepoint list and tell it where each part of our app should save to which colum.

For example if I have a sharepoint list (my datasource) named 'Users' with 2 colums. The first colum is named:  FirstName     The second column is named: LastName

In my app I can add two TextInput Controls by default these will be named TextInput1 and TextInput2

To patch I would add a button into my app and set its onselect property to something like the following:

Patch(Users, Defaults(Users), { FirstName:TextInput1.Text,LastName:TextInput2.Text})

What this basically says is submit the text that is currently in TextInput1 to the FirstName colum and submit the Text that is currently in TextInput2 to the LastName column in your 'Users' Sharepoint List.

It may be worth you just creating a sharepoint list and trying to acheive the above in a blank app and see how you get on

I hope this helps

Regards

So wait, i add to create a button on all the questions to patch it, or i put the Formula Patch on each question OnSelect Button? Or i just put in the submit form, and patch every single question, or do i patch on the button that send all 3 screens? That's my question here!

You put the patch function in the OnSelect Property of a button so that when a user clicks the button it will save the data to the Sharepoint list. Obviously put the button on the last screen so that when they press the button the previous screens have data inputted.
