Submit form and gallery

i have a powerapps form that also has a gallery.  some of the fields in the form are also in the gallery as i am collecting additional info.

My question is this....  I want to submit the form and gallery, but im not sure how.... i have a submit button that used to have this code.  Works....

SubmitForm(Form1)

after i added gallery (one checkbox that allows the user to select multiple classes).  I created a collection that takes the one checkbox choices (total 5) and add some of the form fields so that it would create multiple records in the SP list.  Works...  So im wondering, is it simply just adding the to codes together like this on the button will submit the everything?  Do i only need to submit the collection (this actually makes sense to me although im not sure how to submit a collection.

Collect("Orientation Requests', SelectedClasses);

SubmitForm(Form1)

i am wondering do i need to update or use a forall.... i just dont know....

I want to thank you for assisting me on this...... seems that the things i thought were working, were not so i have a few questions...

i still struggling with the WorkLocation and Training Module.  heck i eve copied and pasted your code and nope.....

1.) worklocation.  YES, the toggle was already set to allow for multiple,(see screenshot in above post) but the error is still there.  It also is set in the SP list as choice/allow multiple selections.  The code Worklocation:Worklocation throws a error.
i tried this code.... i didnt get an error but i dont know if it makes sense to me

WorkLocation:ForAll(WorkLocation_DataCardValue.SelectedItems,{'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",Value:Value})

 2.) your Training Modules code explanation made sense but your code didnt.  You put:

Training_x0020_Module: LookUp([@'Training_x0020_Module'],'Classes V2'= ThisRecord.'Classes V2')

you lookup is to the column that the data is going to or is the same as the column name in the SP list where the form will be submitted???

ForAll(

    SelectedClasses,

    Patch(

        'Orientation Requests',

        Defaults('Orientation Requests'),

        {

            ProjectCoordinator_x0028_PC_x002:ProjectCoordinatorEmail,

            PCWorkPhone:PCWorkPhone,

            PCCostCenterName:PCCostCenter,

            ContractorCompanyName:ContractorCompany,

            Contractor_x0020_Type:{Value:CompanyType},

            OrientationRequestDate:RequestDate,

            EstimatedContractorsCount:Value(EstimatedContractorCount),

            ContractorName:Concatenate(FirstName," ",LastName),

            Comments:Comments,

            WorkLocation:ForAll(WorkLocation_DataCardValue.SelectedItems,{'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",Value:Value}),

            Training_x0020_Module:LookUp('Training Modules','Classes v2'=?????

again... there is a reference list called Training modules that has a column in it called Classes v2.  I have a gallery in the form where the checkbox field (ClassChoices) references this to populate the gallery.  I simply can not get your code or any code to work to compare the gallery choices to the SP list and collect all the values.

Hi @cnorris135 ,

Please try:

1\ Create the collection with classes selected in the gallery:

Collect(
    SelectedClasses,
    {
        ProjectCoordinator: DataCardValue1.Text,
        PCWorkPhone: PCWorkPhone_DataCardValue.Text,
        PCCostCenter: PCCostCenterName_DataCardValue.Text,
        ClassChoices: ThisItem, //'classes V2' has been removed
        ContractorCompany: ContractorCompanyName_DataCardValue.SelectedText.Value,
        CompanyType: ContractorType_DataCardValue.Selected.Value,
        RequestDate: OrientationRequestDate_DataCardValue.SelectedDate,
        EstimatedContractorCount: EstimatedContractorsCount_DataCardValue.Text,
        FirstName: DataCardValue2.Text,
        LastName: DataCardValue3.Text,
        BriefDescription: Comments_DataCardValue.Text,
        WorkLocation: WorkLocation_DataCardValue.Selected.Value
    }
)

2\ Submit button with below formula:

ForAll(
    SelectedClasses,
    Patch(
        'Orientation Requests',
        Defaults('Orientation Requests'),
        {
            ProjectCoordinator_x0028_PC_x002:ProjectCoordinatorEmail,
            PCWorkPhone:PCWorkPhone,
            PCCostCenterName:PCCostCenter,
            ContractorCompanyName:ContractorCompany,
            Contractor_x0020_Type:{Value:CompanyType},
            OrientationRequestDate:RequestDate,
            EstimatedContractorsCount:Value(EstimatedContractorCount),
            ContractorName:Concatenate(FirstName," ",LastName),
            Comments:BriefDescription,
            WorkLocation:WorkLocation_DataCardValue.Selected.Value,
            Training_x0020_Module: {
               '@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",
               Id:ThisRecord.ID,
               Value:ThisRecord.'Classes v2'
            }
        }
    )
)

Actually, a simpler way to create the collection in only collect the selected classes, then for all records in the collection patch to the list with other field values in the Form's Data Card Values.

Hope this helps.

well...

1.) in the Collection, i did as you requested with the only change being taking off the .'Classes v2'.  I dont understand this because the ThisItem allows you to select the item.  But i did it.  Dont see any change.

2.) for the Submit button, i did everything you posted, actually copied it and got

- Invalid Argument type. Expecting a record value

- Incompatible type.  the ID column in data source your updating expects a Number.

so i started from the bottom and removed parenthesis, up until the Curlyclose right after Value:ThisRecord.Classes V2.  and i also ID:ThisRecord.ID .  these are both underlined in red and the errors say "Name isnt valid. Identifier isnt recognized.
image001 (5).jpg

so..... i started commenting out "//" and to Comments, i get no errors.... but for WorkLocation, i get error - .... Does not match expected type 'Table'. Found type text and for Training x0020 Module i just get the error for Name isnt valid for both ID and Value....... im so stressed.

Hi @cnorris135 ,

Try below on the submit button:

ForAll(
    SelectedClasses,
    Patch(
        'Orientation Requests',
        Defaults('Orientation Requests'),
        {
            ProjectCoordinator_x0028_PC_x002:ProjectCoordinatorEmail,
            PCWorkPhone:PCWorkPhone,
            PCCostCenterName:PCCostCenter,
            ContractorCompanyName:ContractorCompany,
            Contractor_x0020_Type:{Value:CompanyType},
            OrientationRequestDate:RequestDate,
            EstimatedContractorsCount:Value(EstimatedContractorCount),
            ContractorName:Concatenate(FirstName," ",LastName),
            Comments:BriefDescription,
            WorkLocation:WorkLocation_DataCardValue.Selected.Value,
            Training_x0020_Module: {
               '@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",
               Id:ThisRecord.ClassChoices.ID,
               Value:ThisRecord.ClassChoices.'Classes v2'
            }
        }
    )
)

This why I not recommend to collect all fields into a collection then submit. The simpler way, although need to re-code the formulas of collection and submit, I would show them for you to refer to.

Collection:

Collect(
    SelectedClasses,
    ThisItem
)

Submit:

ForAll(
    SelectedClasses,
    Patch(
        'Orientation Requests',
        Defaults('Orientation Requests'),
        {
            ProjectCoordinator_x0028_PC_x002: DataCardValue1.Text,
            PCWorkPhone: PCWorkPhone_DataCardValue.Text,
            PCCostCenterName: PCCostCenterName_DataCardValue.Text,
            ContractorCompanyName: ContractorCompanyName_DataCardValue.SelectedText.Value,
            Contractor_x0020_Type: ContractorType_DataCardValue.Selected.Value,
            OrientationRequestDate: OrientationRequestDate_DataCardValue.SelectedDate,
            EstimatedContractorsCount: EstimatedContractorsCount_DataCardValue.Text,
            ContractorName: Concatenate(DataCardValue2.Text," ",DataCardValue3.Text),
            Comments: Comments_DataCardValue.Text,
            WorkLocation: WorkLocation_DataCardValue.Selected.Value,
            Training_x0020_Module: {
               '@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",
               Id:ThisRecord.ID,
               Value:ThisRecord.'Classes v2'
            }
        }
    )
)
